    Our Borrowing (lending) team is expanding, and we are eager to welcome Credit Managers and Analysts into our credit risk function. Your mission will be to enhance lending solutions for our business banking clientele. The perfect candidate will possess expertise in extending credit to small and medium-sized sole traders and limited companies, with a background in automated decision-making and Credit Risk Management.

    You will be an essential part of the credit risk team, responsible for shaping the credit strategy surrounding our business lending offerings. As our Business Banking customer segment expands, we are committed to developing lending solutions that meet our customers’ funding requirements. We aim to foster a positive and empowering experience related to business credit, and we seek analytical, driven, and inventive minds to help us reach this vision.

    Leveraging your expertise in developing credit risk strategies tailored for small and medium enterprises alongside building leading credit capabilities, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Monzo’s borrowing initiatives. You will take charge of formulating our credit and pricing strategies as we launch innovative lending products. Collaboration will be key as you work with cross-functional teams to ensure we are cultivating profitable lending portfolios and delivering outstanding products for our customers.

    Your Responsibilities Include:

    • Leading initiatives that design and implement credit and pricing strategies for our business lending products.
    • Monitoring existing strategies’ performance and making iterative improvements.
    • Supporting the design and implementation of new products and customer experiences.
    • Driving initiatives to enhance credit underwriting, stimulate growth, and manage portfolio risk.
    • Collaborating with colleagues from engineering, marketing, product, risk, and control to deliver on key initiatives.
    • Developing and tracking our credit models to forecast cash flows and assess the net present value of new lending cohorts.
    • Writing credit proposals that will shape Monzo’s underwriting policy.
    • Assisting in the roll-out of new lending strategies by identifying data patterns and converting them into actionable insights.
    • Building and maintaining the database tables and dashboards that provide insights and facilitate swift, data-driven decisions.
    • Assessing the projected performance of specific lending product portfolios over time.

    • You have established expertise in providing lending products to small businesses.
    • You possess a comprehensive understanding of business lending mechanics, including regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
    • You have a solid grasp of lending economics and experience in developing and executing underwriting strategies and credit models.
    • Your analytical skills are strong, supported by technical capabilities, with SQL proficiency being essential. Familiarity with Python and Looker is a plus.
    • You bring a dynamic energy to your team and are enthusiastic about enhancing our products and implementing changes for our customers.
    • You are an effective communicator, adept at breaking down complex problems and articulating critical decision points.
    • You have experience in project management and coordination across diverse teams.
    • You thrive in collaborative environments with a mix of skills and personalities.
    • You have a working understanding of lending regulations in the UK.
    • You are motivated and excited about making a positive impact for our customers and at Monzo.

    The Interview Process:

    Our interview process consists of four key stages:

    • Initial Call
    • Take Home Task
    • Final Stage (three interviews) focusing on a case study, role-specific questions, and alignment with our company values.
