Support Services Group is actively seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. This pivotal role will focus on navigating the complexities of legal compliance across multiple jurisdictions within APAC. As our APAC Legal Counsel, you will be instrumental in providing strategic legal guidance, overseeing corporate governance, and facilitating business operations while adhering to local laws and regulations. Additionally, you will serve as the Corporate Secretary for our Philippine entities, ensuring meticulous management of corporate housekeeping and compliance matters across the region.
The perfect candidate will be a proactive thinker and innovative problem solver, adept at understanding corporate structures and identifying risks and opportunities for improvement. You should have a track record of drafting strategic plans, securing executive leadership buy-in, and executing initiatives effectively. Ideal candidates will be eager to play a crucial role in legal and governance matters for a US-based global provider of BPO services. A minimum of five years’ experience as a practicing attorney or as in-house counsel for a multinational corporation—ideally within a Philippine branch boasting an annual revenue of at least $50 million—is required. Experience in the BPO or customer care sector or qualifications for serving as Data Protection Officer (DPO) are advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure comprehensive legal compliance across the APAC region, delivering strategic legal insights to bolster SSG’s operational success.
- Develop, implement, and refine internal governance strategies and corporate policies while managing risk and conducting internal investigations.
- Act as Corporate Secretary for our Philippine entities, ensuring compliance with local regulations and managing corporate housekeeping duties.
- Provide nuanced legal counsel on Philippine law, focusing on regulatory requirements and labor laws to secure corporate compliance.
- Play a fundamental role in structuring and negotiating contracts for business deals with clients and vendors.
- Offer training and guidance to business teams on contracting processes, ensuring alignment with company policies.
- Assess the implications of changing legal and regulatory frameworks on business operations, contributing to effective business planning.
- Uphold high standards of corporate governance and regulatory compliance in all operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to craft company policies and strategies that align with our business objectives while ensuring legal adherence.
- Oversee legal considerations in HR operations, ensuring compliance and support.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel and manage ongoing litigation and dispute resolutions.
