About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join our innovative Business Development team. This role offers flexibility and can be performed remotely from anywhere in the UK or EU, with occasional travel of up to 50% required.
As you report to the Vice President of Business Development – Europe / ROW, your mission will be to spearhead our business development strategy across the European market, positioning Sygnature Discovery as the go-to partner for discovery services. You will play a crucial role in fostering and nurturing strategic partnerships, delivering exceptional value and quality to our new and existing clientele.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 6 years of consultative sales experience, showcasing a proven track record of successfully building trust and long-lasting relationships. You are a creative problem solver with the drive and tenacity to consistently exceed goals and deliver results.
Established connections within the Pharmaceutical and Biotech sectors, particularly around small molecule drug discovery and chemical development, are essential for success in this position.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proactively secure and maintain business relationships through consultative sales approaches targeted at decision-makers in the Biotech, Pharmaceutical, and VC sectors.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including Scientific Operations, Senior Management, Marketing, and Therapeutic Area Leads to identify project opportunities and enhance existing client relationships.
- Position Sygnature as the preferred partner for all discovery services.
- Conduct market research to identify potential clients and new business initiatives.
- Identify leads and nurture relationships with key prospects to convert them into valued customers.
- Develop opportunities that leverage our existing services and employ internal resources to transition these into successful contracts, boosting the company’s financial health.
- Lead the sales process for contract services and strategic partnerships from initial engagement through to contract finalization.
- Establish and maintain a strong pipeline of high-quality opportunities, aiming to surpass annual revenue targets.
- Monitor market trends and stay informed about the business landscape within your assigned sectors.
- Track competitor activities through diligent monitoring of websites, presentations, trade journals, and related discussions.
- Facilitate meetings, presentations, and proposals for both new and existing customers.
- Engage with various communication platforms and represent the company at key industry events, conferences, and exhibitions.
- Continuously stay updated on overall business dynamics, particularly in assigned market sectors.
Key Requirements:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a scientific, business, or life sciences discipline.
- A strong background in the drug discovery industry, with a comprehensive understanding of drug discovery and Sygnature’s value propositions.
- Demonstrated success in a target-driven business development environment in Europe.
- Adept at creating both short-term and long-term value through mutually beneficial relationships with clients.
- Strong analytical skills, enabling you to interpret data and generate reports to support closing strategies.
- A results-oriented mindset with a track record of achieving or exceeding commercial objectives over multiple years.
- Exceptional relationship-building capabilities across all organizational levels.
- Experience in matrix management.
- Adept at employing financial models to make informed decisions regarding commercial terms and shaping value propositions.
- Excellent organizational skills in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
- Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring projects are seen through to completion.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership.
