    Transform Your Career with Us

    Your Responsibilities

As a key member of our consulting team, you will serve as a trusted expert in cable system design, guiding developers seeking connections to both distribution and transmission networks. This role also involves supporting utilities and private sector clients in the development and execution of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Interconnector projects. With a wide range of responsibilities, this is a unique opportunity for growth, autonomy, and accountability. In your position, you will enhance your technical leadership skills while representing PSC within the cables domain.

We encourage you to build your professional network and engage in thought leadership through contributions to publications, white papers, and participation in task forces and working committees such as IEEE and CIGRE. Your efforts will help drive business development by forging relationships with potential clients and promoting PSC’s exceptional capabilities.

    • Create cable system designs for HVDC interconnector projects.
    • Design HVAC cable systems aiming to connect renewable energy sources to the grid.
    • Lead onshore cable routing studies and develop technical specifications.
    • Document cable installation methodologies and perform cable pulling calculations.
    • Draft tender documentation for HVDC and/or HVAC cable systems and accessories.
    • Conduct technical evaluations of tender submissions from cable EPC contractors, leading negotiations on behalf of clients.
    • Undertake technical reviews of EPC contractor cable designs and installation documentation.
    • Oversee factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and inspections of cable assets during installation and operational phases.

Your extensive technical expertise will enable you to manage all phases of projects, from developing specifications to thorough documentation, analysis, and reporting. You will have full technical oversight of projects, guiding and mentoring team members while ensuring final work efficacy and quality standards.

As a recognized authority in cables, you’ll confidently present findings to clients, simplifying complex concepts and defending your results with assurance. Both PSC and our clients will depend on your independent judgment and decision-making capabilities.

You will play a pivotal role in our growth strategy by lead negotiations on client proposals and actively pursuing business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the cable industry.
    • An undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • Specialized knowledge in cable system design, particularly for HVDC interconnectors.
    • In-depth understanding of HVDC and HVAC cable technologies.
    • Experience as a cable installation contractor, utilities engineer, engineering consultant, or renewables developer.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to navigate scope changes and budgetary constraints.
    • A growth-oriented mindset, striving for continuous improvement.
    • A proven track record in mentoring engineers and a passion for facilitating others’ success.
    • Exceptional emotional intelligence, vulnerability, and bold leadership.
    • Chartered Engineer status or progression toward chartered designation.
    • A strong professional network and a knack for business development.

    What We Offer:

    • Life insurance coverage.
    • Comprehensive private medical insurance.
    • Generous annual leave – 25 days.
    • The opportunity to work abroad for up to 30 days a year.
    • Flexible working hours.
    • Robust sick pay scheme.
    • Income protection coverage.
    • Profit-sharing opportunities.
    • Pension contributions of up to 7%.
    • Study reimbursement of up to £5,000 annually.

At PSC, our success is built on the skills and dedication of our incredible team. We are driven by a meaningful mission and take pride in our people. If you are in search of a human-centric workplace culture, look no further. We would love to share more about our vision and your potential role within our team.
