    Key Responsibilities

    At the **Ascension Data Sciences Institute (ADSI)**, established in July 2019, our mission is to assist Ascension in reaching its Quadruple Aim by employing exceptionally skilled associates who conduct analyses, create models, and develop applications that enhance healthcare delivery and inform strategic decisions. Our focus areas include 1) Clinical quality and patient safety; 2) Strategic Operations and Financial Analytics; 3) Actuarial and Managed Care Analytics; 4) Registry Abstraction Healthcare Solutions; and 5) Healthcare Data Intelligence. In a healthcare landscape characterized by rapid change and intricate economic conditions, we are committed to harnessing advanced analytics and data science to enable transformative care delivery, improved quality, and superior financial outcomes for competitive advantage.

    In this prominent role, you will spearhead vital analytics initiatives aimed at producing data-informed insights and advisory on impactful federal and state healthcare legislation. Potential subject areas include site-neutral payment reforms, fiscal policy proposals, and annual updates to public insurance programs.

    The Lead Analyst’s responsibilities will include:

    • Assessing the volume and financial repercussions for the health system stemming from proposed policies or policy modifications.

    • Delivering advanced analytical support and consulting to stakeholders, emphasizing policy implications on access to healthcare services and reimbursement across all Ascension facilities.

    • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for data collection and analysis from diverse sources, leading to the creation of comprehensive reports that involve querying relational databases, performing intricate analyses, and contextualizing data from billing, clinical, and claims databases alongside external datasets.

    • Identifying outliers, patterns, and trends, providing actionable recommendations in both ad hoc and standardized reports/presentations for senior leadership.

    • Innovating methodologies for examining complex issues and designing efficient reporting systems to achieve exemplary data analytics and advisory.

    • Guiding, training, and mentoring team members on report access and data interpretation.

    • Proposing ongoing enhancements for data management, reporting, presentations, and other shared documents.

    • Leading the development and delivery of custom management reports.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • High School diploma (or equivalent) with 2 years of relevant experience OR an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of experience OR 5 years of pertinent job experience required, with preference given to candidates with 2 years of leadership or management experience.

    Additional Preferences

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience (or relevant education) is preferred.

    • A Master’s degree or higher in public policy, healthcare administration, healthcare economics, or public health is highly favored.

    • Experience in healthcare policy or related fiscal policy is preferred; experience within large health systems is a plus.

    • Proficiency in SQL is required; familiarity with other programming languages (such as Python or R) is advantageous.

    • Adept at processing and synthesizing very large datasets.

    • Strong written and verbal communication capabilities.

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

    • A demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

    • Experience with cloud-based data storage platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, Salesforce Cloud Data Platform) is a plus.
