About the Role:

This opportunity offers a hybrid working model, combining remote work with on-site presence for client projects.

Who Should Apply:

We seek seasoned project professionals, ideally with experience in the Transmission and Distribution sector within the UK, preferably from a developer/operator perspective. Experience as a principal contractor will also be considered. You should have established a solid reputation in the industry, prompting colleagues and stakeholders to want to collaborate with you again.

Role Purpose:

As a sector Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will lead engagements while mentoring team members to enhance their expertise. You will provide clients with guidance in our core areas such as project controls and planning. Additionally, you will contribute to the expansion of our services by developing proposals, crafting winning strategies, and nurturing successful client relationships and strategic partnerships in the sector.

Team Dynamics:

You will be a vital part of our Project Management Consultancy, which emphasizes:

Specifically, you will integrate into our Project Services Team, initially reporting to our Power & Renewable sector leader.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Own the Plan: Take charge of the project plans for one or more projects, ensuring effective adherence and managing delays commercially.

2. Own the Outcome: While not the ultimate project manager, be fully committed to driving team focus on the established plan, even in the face of challenges.

3. Report and Inform: Provide clear, actionable reports that empower stakeholders at all levels to enhance their contributions to the project.

4. Create Scalable Solutions: Collaborate with your team to develop scalable best practices and tools, ensuring lasting impact.

5. Develop Everyone: Promote the professional and personal development of your team while also educating clients to enhance their growth.

Your Skills:

You bring at least 7 years of project management experience in construction, specifically within UK transmission and distribution projects, possessing a comprehensive understanding of sector requirements and processes. Experience with UK DNOs and/or TOs such as UKPN, National Grid, SPT, or SSE is highly desirable.

1. Expertise in delivering and leading advanced planning and project controls services using the latest digital tools.
2. Strong grasp of project delivery from inception to closeout.
3. Ability to develop project execution plans and timelines suited to various project stages.
4. Familiarity with contract forms, preferably NEC.
5. Capacity to navigate complex project landscapes with minimal guidance.
6. An innovation advocate, bringing fresh ideas to streamline workflows and embrace digital advancements.

Focus in Transmission & Distribution Sector:

1. Previous experience in construction projects as a client or contractor representative/consultant in this sector is a must.
2. Knowledge of sector regulations, processes, and contractual practices is essential.
3. Proficiency in developing comprehensive execution strategies for transmission projects.
4. Capability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
