    Job Description

    As a Field Installation Technician, your primary role will revolve around delivering exceptional field service through the installation and onsite support of Planar’s cutting-edge hardware and software solutions. This position involves not only the installation but also effective troubleshooting and repair of our products at various customer locations. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers to enhance your technical expertise and contribute to resolving any product-related challenges in the field.

    Your Key Responsibilities:

    • Independently or collaboratively install displays and mounting hardware, as well as A/V and interconnectivity equipment at client sites.
    • Ensure optimal performance by maintaining and servicing existing installations.
    • Set up, dismantle, and manage products for demonstrations and trade shows.
    • Report product issues promptly and escalate them to the relevant teams for resolution.
    • Engage with Technical Support and Engineering teams when standard troubleshooting fails to resolve issues.
    • Deliver training and certification to integrators when applicable.
    • Document all completed projects with precision and accuracy.
    • Support the Tech Support/Helpdesk team by addressing customer technical inquiries via phone and email.
    • Convey end-user feedback and technical concerns to the relevant personnel, proactively suggesting solutions.
    • Uphold professional standards of conduct in the workplace.
    • Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality in your role.
    • Effectively manage stress and adapt to a fast-paced working environment.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, customer service, time management, and decision-making skills are essential.
    • Ability to convey information in a professional manner, both in writing and verbally.
    • Familiarity with the order escalation processes and the capacity to give constructive feedback to project managers.
    • Professional demeanor and appearance in diverse work environments.
    • Capable of working independently while maintaining high efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Comfortable using standard hand tools and knowledgeable about basic electronics and connectivity principles.
    • General understanding of HVAC and power requirements is beneficial.
    • Familiarity with various A/V cables, including HDMI and CAT 6.
    • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, measurements, and system drawings, with proficiency in Visio and CAD.
    • Experience with third-party control systems (Creston, AMX, etc.) and system integration is preferred.
    • Government security clearance is a plus.
    • Capability to work on ladders for extended periods and utilize Microsoft Office Suite effectively.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for ongoing interpersonal interactions.
    • Willingness to participate in team development and collaborative processes.
    • Physical capability to operate required computer hardware/software.

    What You Should Bring:

    • An associate degree or equivalent in a technical discipline.
    • 2 to 4+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an A/V company.

    Additional Requirements:

    This role entails working in environments where you may experience:

    • Regular hours Monday through Friday with occasional weekend obligations; hours vary based on project demands.
    • A requirement for heavy lifting.
    • Extensive travel and potential for significant overtime.
    • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate business needs.
    • Collaboration within a team-oriented setting.
    • A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle with proper insurance are mandatory.
