Role Overview
As an Interpreter, your primary responsibility is to facilitate effective communication between individuals who do not share a common language. Your role is essential in conveying the meaning and nuances of conversations to promote successful two-way communication.
We’re Looking for Linguists Who Can:
- Deliver high-quality language interpreting services
- Follow our rigorous Code of Conduct diligently
- Offer accurate, confidential, and unbiased interpreting
- Uphold the highest standards by adhering to interpreting guidelines
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Demonstrate excellent communication, language, and organizational abilities
- Exhibit punctuality, reliability, confidence, enthusiasm, and professionalism
- Stay impartial and courteous to all clients and service users
- Understanding both cultures deeply
- Maintain a professional and composed demeanor throughout assignments
Preferred Qualifications, Experience, and Memberships:
- A minimum of 2 years of interpreting experience
- Community Interpreting Level 3 Certificate
- Diploma in Police Interpreting (DPI) or Metropolitan Police Test
- Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
- Relevant qualifications in Interpreting/Translation
- Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Languages, Translation, Interpretation, Philology, Linguistics, or related fields
- Ph.D. or Doctorate in relevant disciplines
- Certificate of Higher Education in Translation, Interpretation, Languages, Philology, or Linguistics
- Membership in the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI)
- Qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL)
- Affiliations with the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) or other professional bodies
- Proficiency in the English language (as applicable)
Additionally, candidates must provide:
- Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
- A valid DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Two professional references
