Join our dynamic team as a
Health Policy Communications Analyst at LMI, a renowned private government consulting firm based in Tysons, VA. This position, sponsored by Federal Government departments such as the Department of Health and Human Services, allows for remote work across the United States.
As part of our dedicated team, you will provide essential operational and analytical support to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and specifically contribute to the work of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Your primary responsibilities will revolve around enhancing program communications through the creation and refinement of various documents, including guidance materials, operating procedures, newsletters, and website content. Please note, this role does not involve direct policy drafting or influencing government policy decisions.

Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating the review and approval process for operational plans and guidance documents that enhance program operations.
- Ensuring that draft standard operating procedures (SOPs) are visually consistent, user-friendly, and up-to-date.
- Collaborating with cross-program stakeholders to create and refine content for regular public newsletters.
- Conducting thorough editing reviews of deliverables to maintain adherence to established style guidelines.
- Documenting key points from client meetings, including preparing detailed agendas and clear notes that summarize vital takeaways and actions.
- Assisting in the design and execution of communication and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Preparing and maintaining essential program materials for publication on government websites.
- Identifying operational gaps that tactical plans can effectively address.
- Resolving complex issues promptly and with a focus on quality under minimal supervision.
- Actively participating in group meetings with clients and stakeholders.
- Supporting the fulfillment of ad hoc client requests and deliverables as necessary.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or a closely related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant communications experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- In-depth understanding of English grammar and the principles of plain language writing.
- Familiarity with AP Style guidelines.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with senior leaders and consulting teams to produce high-quality communications in a timely manner.
- A consultative approach with a proven ability to build strong relationships at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks independently or as part of a team.
- Superior document review and editing skills with excellent multi-tasking abilities.
- A knack for prioritizing and managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Skills:
- Experience or training in conducting 508 compliance reviews of documents.
The target salary range for this position is $50,000 – $70,000.
