    We are currently seeking a Medical Science Liaison, a key role within Medical Affairs at Ascendis Pharma. This individual will act as the primary scientific representative, effectively communicating our product information through clinical and scientific expertise. The Medical Science Liaison will build and nurture relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) while providing essential education to healthcare providers about disease states and our innovative endocrinology pipeline.

    This remote position reports to the Director of the Field Medical Team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Act as the external medical representative for Medical Affairs in the field.
    • Elevate the visibility of Ascendis Pharma within the endocrinology community and articulate the transformational potential of TransCon technology in endocrinology practice.
    • Maintain a high standard of medical expertise to support the portfolio/pipeline and pertinent disease states (e.g., bone and growth disorders).
    • Deliver compelling medical and scientific presentations to diverse audiences, both internal and external.
    • Identify and establish connections with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and relevant organizations (such as professional associations and patient advocacy groups) in your geographical area.
    • Recognize the scientific needs of healthcare providers (HCPs), researchers, and patient advocates that impact patient care.
    • Develop and manage an engagement plan for KOLs that promotes collaboration across your region.
    • Gather and relay external insights regarding disease states, Ascendis’ product portfolio, and market trends to internal stakeholders promptly and effectively.
    • Forge strong collaborative relationships with internal teams (e.g., Market Access, Marketing, Sales) by providing medical expertise and support.
    • Work alongside Medical Outcomes Scientific Liaisons (MOSLs) to deliver regional objectives, including scientific support and presentations.
    • Contribute to the formulation and execution of the Field Medical Team’s strategic goals and objectives.
    • Engage in scientific activities at medical congresses, including participation in clinical data presentations and discussions at the medical affairs booth.
    • Provide ongoing medical training and internal onboarding for commercial and medical staff.
    • Serve as the primary contact for external researchers interested in investigator-initiated trials (IITs).
    • Support clinical trial operations, ensuring the success of ongoing and planned studies by actively engaging with clinical trial investigators and sites, including patient recruitment activities as needed.
    • Document all relevant interactions in the CRM platform.
    • Uphold compliance with departmental and company policies and protocols.

    Requirements:

    • MD/PhD/PharmD or equivalent qualification.
    • 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience as a medical science liaison is required.
    • Experience in pediatric endocrinology, endocrinology, or rare disease is preferred.
    • Energetic and enjoy engaging with healthcare providers and researchers.
    • A profound passion for patient welfare.
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the capacity to clearly convey scientific and clinical information in both virtual and in-person environments.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of individuals to achieve goals.
    • Capability to work independently, organizing and prioritizing your own schedule efficiently.
    • Strong decision-making skills that significantly impact departmental credibility, operations, and services.
    • Proficient in creating materials such as reports and presentations and confidently presenting to both internal and external audiences.
    • Must reside near a major airport hub within your region.
    • A valid driver’s license in your state of residence is required; a satisfactory driving record is also essential.
    • Willingness to travel approximately 50-75% of the time.
