    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to handle the processing of release of information requests efficiently and accurately. This essential role ensures that customer inquiries are met with the highest standards of service and adherence to privacy regulations. As part of our team, you will play a vital role in protecting patient confidentiality by strictly limiting access to medical information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.

    This role offers a hybrid work environment, requiring both remote work and on-site responsibilities at a hospital facility located in Boston, MA.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Process release of information requests, including the retrieval and return of patient medical charts, while ensuring documents are scanned and transmitted in line with established quality and productivity standards.

    • Date stamp all requests and highlight vital information to streamline processing.

    • Assess and validate requests and authorizations to guarantee compliance with established procedures.

    • Conduct quality checks to maintain accuracy in releases, uphold confidentiality, and ensure proper invoicing practices are followed.

    • Ensure all equipment is kept in optimal working condition for efficiency.

    • Deliver exceptional customer service by actively listening to client needs, following through as promised, and proactively addressing any potential concerns.

    • Manage incoming requests via mail, telephone, and fax, depending on client requirements.

    • Exhibit a professional appearance and comply with the established dress code.

    • Keep your workspace organized and ensure all records are securely stored prior to leaving.

    • Stay informed about relevant state laws and fee structures.

    • Embrace additional responsibilities as needed, demonstrating flexibility in supporting other facilities during peak times.

    • Conduct all activities in accordance with client/site policies, including compliance with HIPAA and other related regulations.

    • Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards when handling sensitive information.

    • Efficiently manage the release of medical records while working attentively with privileged information.

    Candidate Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED is required.

    • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical records department or a similar environment is preferred.

    • Proficiency in computer software, including a solid understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.

    • Strong organizational skills are a must.

    • Ability to type at least 50 words per minute.

    • Familiarity with fax machines, copiers, and scanning equipment is required.

    • A willingness to learn new technologies and processes quickly is essential.

    • A self-motivated team player who excels in customer satisfaction.

    • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks efficiently.
