We invite you to apply for our exciting opening for a Strategic Communications Benefits Writer. This role is a unique blend of writing, editing, strategic thinking, project management, and client collaboration.

    In this position, you’ll team up with communications consultants and clients to design clear, engaging messaging related to health and welfare benefits, annual enrollment, talent acquisition, and more. Your creativity will shine as you bring concepts to life through various mediums, including websites, brochures, emails, social media, videos, and interactive tools.

    Our ideal candidate will have a robust background in employee benefits communication and a knack for writing and editing with both imagination and precision. If you excel in collaborative environments, are a detail-oriented team player, and like to think outside the box, we would love to connect with you. This role starts at 20-25 hours per week until late August, transitioning to full-time through November, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Act as the main proofreader, writer, and/or editor for benefits communication projects, guided by the Senior Content Writer/Editor.
    • Produce or refine a diverse range of communications, including websites, newsletters, enrollment guides, emails, posters, and postcards.
    • Collaborate closely with internal teams, the Strategic Communications Manager, and the Creative Director to brainstorm content ideas, outline plans, and craft compelling copy.
    • Present copy concepts and lead discussions in formal meetings with senior content team members, account managers, and clients.
    • Oversee project progress through all stages of development, from conceptualization to production.
    • Track and document tasks using our project management tool.
    • Maintain organized job files and ensure final versions are uploaded to project management platforms.
    • Support editorial review and proofreading processes.
    • Develop strategies for addressing internal communication needs and objectives.
    • Produce flawless content that aligns with client style guidelines.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
    • Communicate clearly with clients and internal creative teams.
    • Exhibit strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced setting.
    • Navigate client needs and expectations effectively.

    Qualifications:

    • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, or journalism.
    • A minimum of 8+ years of writing experience, ideally in HR and benefits communications or marketing.
    • Proven experience in creating content for digital, print, and broadcast channels.
    • Strong abilities in planning, project management, and coordination.
    • Outstanding verbal communication skills, including presentation and client interaction.
    • Superior written communication skills across various formats (web, email, social media, etc.).
    • Knowledge of AP style is a plus.
