    About the Opportunity:

    As a Senior Applied Scientist within our cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence team, you will play a pivotal role in crafting advanced AI/ML capabilities that enhance our entire product suite and empower customers on their paths toward digital resilience. You will initiate collaborative efforts with multidisciplinary teams, mentor emerging professionals, and contribute to shaping the scientific roadmap for our initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    In this dynamic role, you will:

    • Champion the design and development of essential AI/ML models and algorithms that address critical use cases in cybersecurity and observability.

    • Work closely with software engineers, applied scientists, and product managers to seamlessly integrate generative AI technologies into our offerings.

    • Stay informed on the latest AI/ML research trends and integrate these innovations into our technology strategy.

    • Provide mentorship and technical support to team members, fostering their growth and expertise.

    • Engage actively in cross-functional discussions, influencing strategic directions related to AI research and product development.

    Ideal Qualifications:

    We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:

    • A PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of practical experience, or a Master’s degree with three to four years in the industry.

    • Hands-on experience in training and fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs).

    • Expertise in time series anomaly detection methodologies.

    • A strong background in AI/ML technologies, including deep learning, time series modeling, natural language processing, and unsupervised learning techniques.

    • Proven expertise in Generative AI technologies and LLMs.

    • Experience in developing large-scale, complex models and successfully transitioning them from research to operational environments.

    • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a knack for translating research findings into actionable solutions.

    • In-depth knowledge of ML frameworks (such as TensorFlow, PyTorch) and proficiency in programming languages relevant to AI research.

    • Outstanding communication skills, capable of conveying intricate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • Preferred experience in either the Cybersecurity or Observability sectors.

    Compensation Overview:

    We offer competitive compensation based on location. Here’s a snapshot of our base pay ranges:

    For the SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro:

    Base Pay Range: $174,350.00 per year

    For California (excluding SF Bay Area), Washington (excluding Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts:

    Base Pay Range: $157,315.00 per year

    For all other locations outside of California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro, and Washington DC Metro:

    Base Pay Range: $139,280.00 per year

    At Splunk, we provide flexible working arrangements, including options for remote and in-office roles. Our compensation structure is market-driven and varies by location. The stated base pay range serves as a guideline; actual offers may be influenced by individual experience, skills, and knowledge. In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible for incentive compensation and may offer equity or long-term cash awards.
