Job Description
The Principal AI Data Scientist will play a key role in driving forward the implementation of groundbreaking AI, Machine Learning (ML), and Generative AI (GenAI) innovations within the realms of Clinical Trial Execution and Digital Healthcare at Jazz Research and Development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the creation and execution of AI/ML/GenAI solutions aimed at enhancing clinical trial processes, focusing on critical areas like patient recruitment, retention, real-time data evaluation, and the establishment of automated data collection systems.
- Drive the development and execution of GenAI applications that automate the generation of clinical trial documentation, which includes medical reports, clinical study reports, study protocols, and patient narratives.
- Collaborate on the design and implementation of Digital Healthcare applications that act as essential tools for medical and scientific needs, fostering innovative methods for generating real-world evidence (RWE) and improving patient engagement.
- Innovate predictive models and generative AI solutions utilizing a diverse array of healthcare data sources, such as clinical trials data, electronic health records, wearable technology data, patient-reported outcomes, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) data, and phase IV studies.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams—including clinical operations, clinical development, data science, global medical & scientific affairs, RWE teams, and patient working groups—to address business challenges and harness the transformative potential of AI-driven solutions.
- Maintain high standards of compliance with regulatory requirements and data privacy protocols.
- Promote knowledge sharing and cross-pollination of ideas within Jazz Data Science and throughout Jazz Research and Development.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proficient programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages, complemented by extensive experience in cutting-edge ML frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Proven expertise in generative AI technologies, particularly with Large Language Model (LLM) architectures and frameworks.
- Strong background in designing and developing digital healthcare tools.
- Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) and generative AI applications for medical text analysis, generation, and interpretation.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Knowledge of high-performance cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS.
- Understanding of code version control systems and MLOps deployment methodologies.
- A keen ability to navigate healthcare challenges and apply relevant AI solutions effectively.
- High adaptability to work collaboratively across various functions to achieve organizational objectives.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Data Science, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or a closely related field.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 1 year applying AI/ML techniques in the healthcare or clinical research domain.
- Experience with AI implementations in the healthcare sector is advantageous.
- Background knowledge in the design and development of digital healthcare tools.
