    About You:

You’re an experienced cloud engineer with a hands-on approach, eager to build scalable infrastructure while inspiring those around you. You flourish in collaborative environments, enjoy mentoring peers, and ensure that reliability, scalability, and security are at the forefront of every system. Your technical expertise, energy, and clarity make you a valuable resource in every discussion.

    About The Team:

You will join a dynamic and expanding Cloud function that’s deeply integrated within our Product Development team. Here, Cloud and Development professionals work in harmony on a daily basis, engaging in planning, refinement, and delivery. We are transitioning from a traditionally manual, reactive stance to a modern, proactive, automation-centric culture, with strong leadership support.

    About The Role:

We are on the lookout for a Senior Cloud Engineer to elevate our cloud engineering capabilities from reactive, manual operations to a proactive, automation-first approach that spans the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC). Your expertise will drive our infrastructure strategy, tooling selections, and reliability initiatives across an impressive suite of more than 20 applications and services.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate on developing a comprehensive cloud strategy with a strong focus on automation.
    • Construct and sustain infrastructure automation frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
    • Champion a shift-left approach to integrate cloud practices early in the SDLC.
    • Mentor and cultivate our engineers into proficient Cloud Engineers.
    • Work alongside Developers and Product teams to ensure infrastructure is recognized as a shared duty.
    • Advocate for cloud practices during planning, refinement, and release phases.
    • Incorporate infrastructure automation into CI/CD pipelines.
    • Define and monitor key cloud metrics and KPIs.
    • Enhance infrastructure data and environment management alongside Infrastructure teams.
    • Assist in crafting a simpler, more consistent release process.

Success in This Role Looks Like:

    • A robust infrastructure automation strategy that yields measurable improvements.
    • A noticeable decrease in manual operations and increased confidence in releases.
    • Engineers advancing into Cloud Engineers under your guidance.
    • An early embedding of infrastructure within processes, with shared ownership across teams.
    • Stakeholders identifying cloud engineering as a crucial collaborator in delivering high-performance, resilient products.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Demonstrated experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer in a contemporary Agile environment.
    • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure automation frameworks, SRE principles, and continuous delivery.
    • Proficiency with tools like Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
    • Experience in programming/scripting with Python, Bash, or similar languages.
    • Strong background in CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
    • Understanding of REST APIs, SQL, and containerization.

    Bonus Points For:

    • Relevant certifications such as LPIC-1/LPIC-2, RHCE/RHCSA, or equivalent.
    • Experience in scaling cloud engineering practices across various products or platforms.
    • Exposure to security, compliance, or regulated environments.

    Security Clearance Requirements:

While current SC clearance is not mandatory at the application stage, eligibility is required. This role mandates the successful candidate to qualify for Security Check (SC) clearance. To fulfill this requirement, applicants must:

    • Hold the right to work in the UK.
    • Have continuously resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
    • Not have spent more than 6 months outside the UK during that timeframe.
    • Be prepared for security vetting as part of the onboarding procedure.
    • Flexible Working: Enjoy the option of hybrid or remote working arrangements.
    • Private Medical: Access to private medical coverage.
    • Inclusive Culture: Be part of an inclusive work environment.
    • Holiday: Generous holiday allowance.
    • Learning: Continuous learning and development opportunities available.
    • Bonus Potential: Opportunity for bonuses based on performance and business outcomes.
    • Discount Programs: Enjoy discounts on a variety of products and services.
    • Pension Scheme: Contributions towards a pension with Government Top-Up.
    • Additional Benefits: Explore more perks available on our career site.

Please note that our in-house talent acquisition team is handling this vacancy and we do not require agency assistance.

Successful candidates will need to undergo relevant security checks.

    Our Process:

If your application is successful, our talent acquisition team will reach out to arrange a brief screening call (up to 30 minutes) to learn more about you and your aspirations, as well as address any questions you may have. If all goes well, we will present your profile to the hiring manager for evaluation, and our interview process is tailored to each role but typically begins remotely, culminating in an on-site final stage.

Expect a two-stage interview process for this position:

1st Stage: An informal 30-minute video call with the hiring team to review your skills and experience, providing a chance to learn more about the role and ask questions.
