About the Opportunity:
CrowdStrike is on the lookout for a skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our growing Data Science division. In this role, you’ll spearhead avant-garde AI/ML research projects that blend cybersecurity with state-of-the-art machine learning, emphasizing mechanistic explainability, self-supervised learning, representation learning, and groundbreaking advancements that reach beyond existing generative AI frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Drive research initiatives focusing on mechanistic explainability, self-supervised learning, and representation learning to propel fundamental AI capabilities for cybersecurity.
- Innovate new machine learning structures that transcend current generative AI models, producing more robust, transparent, and efficient solutions for complex multimodal cybersecurity data.
- Analyze a variety of high-dimensional datasets to unveil hidden patterns and derive significant insights from vast amounts of unlabeled information.
- Establish rigorous experimental designs and evaluation frameworks to verify theoretical advancements concerning performance, interpretability, robustness, and generalization in real-world cybersecurity applications.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to translate research innovations into practical, deployable solutions.
- Disseminate findings through publications in leading academic journals and presentations at prominent conferences, driving the advancement of the field.
- Create and file patents for innovative methods and technologies generated during your research efforts.
- Engage with the wider research community to share ideas and remain abreast of the latest advancements.
- Mentor junior researchers and foster a vibrant culture of scientific inquiry and innovation.
Essential Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent research experience with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in advanced machine learning research.
- Strong theoretical grounding in fundamental machine learning principles and statistical methodologies.
- Excellent command of Python, proficiency in Deep Learning frameworks (such as TensorFlow, PyTorch), and familiarity with distributed computing environments.
- Effective scientific writing and communication abilities suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven capacity to conduct autonomous research while effectively collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialized expertise in areas such as mechanistic interpretability, self-supervised learning, representation learning, or novel AI paradigms.
- Demonstrated research leadership and scientific impact through publications in prestigious journals, patents, or deployed innovations.
- Experience applying advanced machine learning techniques to address cybersecurity challenges.
- Background in developing and implementing novel machine learning architectures and algorithms.
- Understanding of theoretical foundations encompassing information theory, causal inference, or theoretical computer science.
- Proficiency in robust AI methodologies, including adversarial machine learning, multi-agent systems, or emergent behaviors.
- Knowledge of large-scale distributed training and optimization strategies.
- Familiarity with privacy-preserving machine learning techniques and differential privacy.
- Insight into next-generation computing trends, such as neuromorphic computing, brain-inspired architectures, or quantum machine learning.
- Expertise in computational linguistics or graph neural networks for intricate relational data.
- Contributions to open-source machine learning initiatives or frameworks.
