Join an exciting opportunity as a Senior Optical Engineer specializing in Optical Space Payloads for a prestigious ESA mission. This remote contract position spans 12 months and offers a competitive rate, commensurate with your experience.
Key Responsibilities:
As a pivotal member of our design and verification team, your expertise in optical engineering will be essential for developing cutting-edge space instruments. You will leverage your extensive knowledge and skills in optical design, particularly for satellite applications, to ensure the success of our space initiatives.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Profound understanding of optical design principles tailored for space and satellite systems.
- Proven experience with Optic Studio (Zemax) is mandatory for this role.
- Familiarity with design and analysis tools, including SolidWorks, Ansys, SigFit, and Python, will be advantageous.
- A solid grasp of electronics, opto-mechanics, and the physics of electro-optical devices is needed.
- Previous work with Optical Payloads, including Assembly, Integration, and Verification (AIV) processes, is highly valuable.
- Expertise in selecting appropriate materials and components, particularly for space applications, is preferred.
- Ability to manage and oversee multiple design projects throughout their lifecycle.
- Experience with Optical Ground Support Equipment would be beneficial.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Optics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
- Proficient in using the MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
