Position Overview
HII-Mission Technologies is on the lookout for an exceptional Director of Business Development to spearhead growth initiatives within the DoD Fourth Estate market. The selected candidate will be responsible for crafting and executing comprehensive long-term strategies tailored to achieve our growth targets while engaging key stakeholders within the DoD Fourth Estate framework. This role calls for an astute understanding of defense budget allocations, acquisition methodologies, influential networks, emerging technology trends, and spending projections to pinpoint high-value opportunities. The ideal professional will excel in building and nurturing impactful relationships crucial to the sustained success and expansion of Mission Technologies. Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute strategic business development campaigns focused on identifying and capturing opportunities within the DoD Fourth Estate, aligned with our growth strategy and portfolio.
- Perform in-depth opportunity evaluations, including business case analyses and competitive positioning based on client requirements and our capabilities.
- Prepare and present recommendations for qualification, interest, and pursuit decisions for executive leadership review.
- Act as the principal representative of HII to assigned DoD Fourth Estate clients, gathering valuable program intelligence while fostering strong relationships with key decision-makers through direct engagement and industry event participation.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to generate and present white papers, presentations, and responses to RFIs, enhancing our positioning with clients on select opportunities.
- Provide strategic insights to inform Mission Technologies’ planning, focusing on market intelligence, customer mission analysis, and investment guidance to optimize growth potential.
- Partner with HII Corporate Government and Customer Relations and the Marketing team to support congressional and DoD outreach, crafting impactful messaging for policymakers, defense leaders, and stakeholders.
- Deliver compelling presentations of market analyses and opportunity assessments to HII’s CEO and Board of Directors as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 10 years of progressive experience; or a Master’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 14 years of relevant experience.
- At least 10 years of experience in the DoD Fourth Estate market, with hands-on project involvement in military technology, weapons systems, sensor systems, intelligence systems, cybersecurity, or other national security sectors.
- Strong grasp of government contracting procedures.
- Minimum of 5 years in successful business development within the U.S. Defense Industry, demonstrating measurable growth through proactive strategies that significantly boosted revenue and market share.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven abilities in public speaking, active listening, and engaging diverse audiences.
- Experience presenting findings and solutions to executive leadership is essential.
- Clearance: Must hold and continuously maintain a Top Secret security clearance with previous SCI access.
Preferred Qualifications
- DAWIA Level II certification or above is a plus.
- At least 3 years of dedicated business development experience within the DoD Fourth Estate market.
- Proposal writing experience is advantageous.
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
