Role Overview
As an R&D Engineer II, you will play a critical role in the design and development of our software products and their supporting systems. Collaborating with a skilled team, you will actively engage in understanding customer needs and achieve key development goals.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Execute moderately complex development tasks, focusing on the design, implementation, maintenance, testing, and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
- Apply best practices in software development to enhance product quality.
- Conduct bug verification, release testing, and provide beta support for designated products; work on debugging issues identified by QA or product support teams.
- Grasp marketing needs for products, including target environments, performance benchmarks, and competitive landscape.
- Collaborate under the general guidance of a development manager.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related natural science disciplines, along with 2 years of experience, or a Master’s degree.
- Proven experience in technical software development, backed by academic, research, or industry projects; a solid foundation in object-oriented programming is essential.
- Proficiency in .NET is required.
- This role can be performed remotely, but candidates must be located on the East Coast due to time zone considerations.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in C++, Python, Java, and C# / .NET.
- Ability to mentor junior developers as needed.
- Quick learner with a collaborative spirit in a geographically spread-out team.
- Knowledge of cloud computing technologies, including micro-services and RPC frameworks (like gRPC).
- Familiarity with modern database technologies such as MongoDB.
- Experience with distributed application frameworks like MassTransit is a plus.
- Technical expertise in various engineering tools and methodologies, such as Finite Element simulation, CAD modeling, and Systems Architecture modeling, is advantageous.
