About This Opportunity

As a pivotal member of our team, the Field Service Technician II is dedicated to providing exceptional support to our customers at Global Finishing Solutions (GFS). In this role, you’ll take charge of start-up operations, customer training, service calls, maintenance, and repair of paint booths and related equipment, ensuring high standards of service delivery while enhancing our products and processes with quality data.

Your primary focus will be to deliver an unparalleled customer service experience. You will be responsible for installing, training on, and launching equipment, addressing service requests, and performing both electrical and mechanical maintenance on various makes and models of finishing equipment in the auto refinishing sector. This position involves conducting both hands-on and classroom training sessions for customers, and we highly value candidates with a strong background in HVAC.

This position requires travel (70% or more) within the continental United States, so proximity to a major airport (within two hours) is necessary.

Your Responsibilities Include:

• Testing, repairing, and installing mechanical and electrical equipment, including programming variable frequency drives (VFDs) and various process controllers.
• Utilizing blueprints, schematics, and other specifications to diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical systems, making necessary field adjustments to create accurate as-built documentation.
• Using diagnostic testing tools to gather essential data for troubleshooting equipment operational issues.
• Delivering both classroom and practical training to customers on the operation and maintenance of GFS products, while offering support to fellow technicians as necessary.
• Collaborating with the design and engineering teams at GFS by sharing insights and suggestions for improving equipment related to controls, electrical systems, air replacements, and other mechanical components.

Your Qualifications Include:

• An associate’s degree and 4+ years of experience in a technical capacity; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
• Preferred HVAC experience, particularly involving electrical and control wiring.
• Experience in the auto refinishing sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Proficiency in modifying electrical, mechanical, and air diffusion systems.
• A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel both regionally and occasionally overnight.
