    As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you will be part of a dynamic field-based team of scientists acting as an extension of the US Medical Affairs organization. Your role will involve nurturing and enhancing professional connections with medical thought leaders engaged in various stages of product development. You will play a vital role in delivering scientific information and offering clinical and scientific support for Jazz Pharmaceuticals and the Medical Affairs department.

    This field-based position will cover Central California, Nevada, Utah, and Hawaii and is designed for professionals who possess established credibility both personally and scientifically, facilitating interactions with thought leaders and academic centers of excellence.

    Key Responsibilities:

    KOL Development and Engagement

    • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers in the Oncology therapeutic area.
    • Design and implement territory plans that align with US Medical Affairs objectives.
    • Convey pertinent clinical and research insights from KOLs to relevant departments.
    • Engage in medical education for healthcare professionals (HCPs) through presentations at healthcare institutions, investigator meetings, national conferences, advisory boards, and regional meetings.
    • Provide scientific aid for activities such as medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training initiatives.

    Establishing Scientific Expertise

    • Maintain current, high-level knowledge of the therapy area, Jazz products, research developments, therapeutic challenges, and trends within the competitive landscape.
    • Position yourself as a reliable source of scientific and medical information for the healthcare community.
    • Enhance Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ reputation as a scientific authority in Oncology by attending key scientific congresses and supporting KOL activities.
    • Gain a comprehensive understanding of local and national clinical protocols and trends in disease management in the US.
    • Offer clinical presentations and information in response to unsolicited inquiries during academic, community, and healthcare provider meetings.
    • Share emerging data and clinical experience with our products through scientific dialogue and peer interactions, discussing benefits and risks objectively.
    • Support scientific events and activities, including medical congress staffing and advisory boards.

    Medical Affairs Planning and Execution

    • Provide input into the development of the US Medical Plan and assist with local strategies and tactics.
    • Manage relevant budgets to facilitate implementation of Medical Plan initiatives as part of the broader Medical Affairs team.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to ensure a comprehensive Key Account Management approach.
    • Serve as a scientific resource for HCP activities aligned with the Medical Plan, including advisory boards, speaker development, and clinical trials.

    Upholding Company Standards and Values

    • Actively promote Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ image as a champion for medical advancement by leveraging your expertise in products, disease states, and pipeline developments to foster meaningful scientific exchanges with healthcare providers.
    • Document and relay reports of adverse events and product complaints in accordance with Jazz policies to guarantee the safe and effective use of our products.
    • Adhere to relevant national and local Codes of Practice, demonstrating ethical behavior and integrity at all times.
    • Act as an ambassador for Jazz Pharmaceuticals, embodying our mission and core values, while maintaining a personal written development plan and ensuring timely reporting aligned with company needs.

    Qualifications:

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Capacity to research, analyze, and convey complex scientific and medical information effectively.

    • Exceptional planning and organization skills, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.

    Preferred Experience

    • Insight into the geographical healthcare landscape, including interactions with external experts in academia and the medical community.
    • Proven track record in establishing trust-based relationships with opinion leaders in relevant disease states.
    • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for field personnel.

    Education and Licensure Requirements

    • An advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in oncology medicine is mandated.
    • A license (RN, NP, CNP, PA, or equivalent) with at least a Master’s degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in oncology medicine is essential.
    • At least 2 years of experience as an MSL or in a comparable industry or clinical role is required.
    • A strong preference for experience in solid tumors/targeted therapies and a successful track record.
    • This role entails frequent travel (approximately 60% of the time) and candidates should reside near a major airport.

    Physical and Work Environment Demands

    • Frequent traveling to various meeting locations and regular operation of office equipment, including computers and printers.
    • Regular interactions with external contacts in their office environments, free from excessive noise, dust, fumes, or temperature variations.
    • Responsibilities may extend beyond regular working hours to accommodate business needs, often requiring proper business attire for public interactions.

    Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is dedicated to fostering fair and equitable compensation practices, striving to offer total compensation packages that are competitive within the market. For this role, the comprehensive base pay range is $154,400.00 – $231,600.00. Individual compensation within this range will be influenced by various factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and job knowledge. We aim to ensure competitive compensation that aligns with the expertise and contributions of the candidate while adhering to our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also play a crucial role in determining individual base pay decisions, which will be reviewed regularly.

    At Jazz, base pay is just one facet of the total compensation package. The successful candidate may also qualify for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (dependent on the role), in alignment with the Company’s Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, along with discretionary equity grants as per Jazz’s Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
