    Although we are seeking candidates for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role, we highly encourage seasoned professionals to apply. Should we identify a sufficient business need, we may create a requisition tailored to those with advanced expertise.

    As a pivotal member of our field-based team of scientists, the MSL serves as a vital extension of the US Medical Affairs organization. You will be tasked with cultivating and enhancing relationships with medical thought leaders across different stages of product development. In this role, you’ll provide essential medical insights through scientific engagement and offer clinical/scientific support for Jazz Pharmaceuticals and the Medical Affairs team.

    This field-based opportunity spans Northern Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi, and is suited for individuals with demonstrated personal and scientific credibility, enabling engagement with key opinion leaders and respected academic institutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    KOL Development and Engagement:

    • Identify and foster peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers in your therapeutic area.
    • Craft and implement territory plans aligned with US Medical Affairs objectives.
    • Relay vital clinical and research insights from KOLs to relevant departments.
    • Facilitate medical education initiatives for healthcare professionals (HCPs) through presentations at healthcare institutions, investigator meetings, national conferences, advisory boards, and regional gatherings.

    Establishing Scientific Expertise:

    • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the therapeutic area, Jazz product offerings, emerging research, and competitive dynamics.
    • Become a trusted source of scientific and medical information within the healthcare community.
    • Support Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ reputation as a scientific authority in its therapeutic focus areas by attending key scientific congresses.
    • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of local and national clinical protocols and disease management trends.
    • Deliver clinical presentations and respond to unsolicited inquiries in various healthcare settings.
    • Share emerging data and insights regarding our products through objective scientific dialogue.
    • Provide support for data generation efforts, including company-sponsored studies, collaborative studies, and investigator-sponsored trials.

    Medical Affairs Strategy and Execution:

    • Contribute to the formulation of the US Medical Plan, offering insights into local strategies and tactics.
    • Manage relevant budgets to facilitate effective execution of Medical Plan initiatives, collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional teams.
    • Engage with HCPs as a scientific resource, supporting activities that align with the Medical Plan, such as advisory boards and speaker development.

    Upholding Company Standards and Values:

    • Actively enhance Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ reputation as a proponent of medical advancement through informed scientific exchanges.
    • Ensure adherence to safety protocols by reporting adverse events and product complaints as per Jazz’s policies.
    • Comply with local and national Codes of Practice while maintaining ethical integrity.

    • Continuously refine your personal development plan and deliver timely reports as required.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Expertise in researching, analyzing, and conveying complex scientific and medical information.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
    • A strategic mindset with high self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
    • Capacity to adapt and focus on results in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven negotiation skills.
    • Skills in building interpersonal relationships, networking, collaboration, and teamwork, coupled with proficiency in digital tools.
    • Fluent in spoken English.
    • Willingness to travel approximately 60% of working days; a valid driver’s license is essential.

    Preferred:

    • Familiarity with geographical and healthcare environments and connections in academia and the medical community.
    • Proven ability to build trust and rapport with opinion leaders in relevant disease states.
    • Understanding of regulatory requirements specific to field-based roles.
    • Experience in oncology is highly desired, with a strong track record as a Medical Science Liaison preferred.

    Education and Licensing Requirements:

    • An advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD or equivalent), accompanied by a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Oncology Medicine, is required.
    • A licensure (RN, NP, CNP, PA or equivalent) with a Master’s Degree (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of oncology experience is mandatory.
    • At least 2 years of experience as an MSL or in a comparable clinical or industry role is required.
    • A strong preference for candidates with experience in solid tumors or targeted therapies.

    Physical Demands:

    • Regular travel across various meeting locations.
    • Frequent use of office machinery such as computers and printers.

    Work Environment:

    • Engage frequently with external contacts in their office settings, with minimal exposure to adverse conditions.
    • Regular use of digital devices, often outside of designated workstations.
    • Flexible work hours may be required to meet business needs.
    • Appropriate professional attire for frequent public contact.

    Compensation:
    Jazz Pharmaceuticals is devoted to fair and competitive compensation practices. For this role, the base pay range is $154,400.00 – $231,600.00. Your specific compensation within this range will be influenced by various factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills, as we aim to ensure that pay reflects both your expertise and the value you bring to our organization. Additionally, successful candidates may be eligible for discretionary bonuses or incentive compensation, depending on their role.
