While we are currently advertising for a Medical Science Liaison role, we are open to receiving applications from senior-level professionals. Should we identify sufficient business need, we may create a specialized requisition for candidates with additional expertise.
As a vital member of our field-based team of scientists, the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as an integral connection point within the US Medical Affairs organization. In this role, MSLs will cultivate and strengthen relationships with medical thought leaders engaged in various stages of product development, offering essential medical information through scientific exchanges and clinical support for Jazz Pharmaceuticals and the Medical Affairs team.
This position involves extensive travel covering Wyoming, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, and we seek professionals with established personal and scientific credibility to engage thoughtfully with key thought leaders and academic centers of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
KOL Development and Field Engagement:
- Forge meaningful peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers within the oncology therapeutic sphere.
- Strategize and implement territory plans that align with the broader US Medical Affairs objectives.
- Capture and relay significant clinical insights and research issues from KOLs to relevant departments.
- Lead medical education sessions for healthcare professionals (HCPs) through presentations at various venues, including healthcare institutions and national conferences.
- Provide scientific backing for initiatives such as medical congress participation, advisory boards, and sales training sessions.
Positioning as a Scientific Expert:
- Maintain an extensive understanding of the therapy landscape, Jazz’s product lines, emerging research areas, and competitive trends.
- Establish your reputation as a trusted source of scientific and medical information within the healthcare community.
- Support Jazz Pharmaceuticals in reinforcing its position as a scientific leader in oncology, attending relevant scientific congresses to remain informed.
- Thoroughly understand local and national clinical protocols and standards for disease management in the US.
- Deliver clinical presentations and answer unsolicited inquiries regarding our products in both group and individual settings.
- Communicate emerging clinical data and experiences in an objective manner through scientific exchanges and interactions.
Medical Affairs Planning and Execution:
- Contribute to crafting the US Medical Plan and assist in local strategic initiatives.
- Manage the relevant budget to facilitate execution of Medical Plan tactics as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to adopt a Key Account Management approach.
- Engage HCPs as a scientific resource in line with the Medical Plan, including activities such as advisory boards and clinical trials.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

- Understanding of regulatory requirements impacting field-based personnel.
Education and Licensing Requirements:
- An advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in oncology medicine is essential.
- Alternatively, a license (RN, NP, CNP, PA, or equivalent) with at least a Master’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in oncology medicine is required.
- A minimum of 2 years as a Medical Science Liaison or in a comparable clinical or industry role is preferred.
- Experience in solid tumors or targeted therapies with a strong record of success is highly desired.
- This role involves significant fieldwork, and candidates must be willing to travel approximately 60% of the time.
- A valid driver’s license and residence near a major airport is mandatory.
Physical Demands:

- Regular use of a computer, printer, telephone, and other office technology.
Work Environment:
- Regular interaction with external contacts in an office setting with minimal exposure to excessive noise, dust, and other environmental factors.
- Frequent use of a laptop or tablet, often outside of traditional workstation setups.
- Responsibilities may require flexibility in working hours to meet business demands.
- Public engagements necessitate appropriate professional attire.

At Jazz Pharmaceuticals, we are committed to ensuring fair and competitive compensation. The salary range for this position is between $154,400.00 and $231,600.00. Individual compensation within this range will vary based on qualifications, skills, pertinent experience, and other relevant factors, aiming for equitable alignment with expertise and contribution expectations. This range is reviewed regularly.
In addition to your base pay, you may be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation per the company’s Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, along with potential equity grants in accordance with Jazz’s Long-Term Equity Incentive Plan.
