We invite experienced candidates to apply for the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) position. While typically aimed at MSL roles, we are open to creating a requisition for senior-level professionals with relevant expertise should the business need arise.
As a Medical Science Liaison, you will be a critical part of a field-based scientific team, serving as an extension of our US Medical Affairs organization. Your primary responsibility will involve cultivating and enhancing professional relationships with medical thought leaders and healthcare providers engaged in various facets of product development. You will facilitate scientific exchange and provide clinical support within Jazz Pharmaceuticals and the Medical Affairs department.
This position encompasses Southern OH, IN, and WV, and requires professionals with established scientific credibility to engage with thought leaders and prestigious academic centers.
Key Responsibilities:
KOL Development and Engagement:
- Forge and nurture peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers within your therapeutic focus.
- Develop and implement strategic territory plans in alignment with US Medical Affairs.
- Relay vital clinical and research insights from KOLs to relevant departments.
- Engage in medical education for healthcare professionals through presentations in various settings, including advisory boards, national conferences, and investigator meetings.
Positioning as a Scientific Expert:
- Maintain a thorough and updated knowledge of the therapeutic area, Jazz products, and the competitive landscape.
- Build a reputation as a reliable source of scientific information for healthcare professionals.
- Support Jazz’s positioning as a scientific authority in your therapeutic area by attending leading scientific congresses.
- Provide clinical insights and data in response to inquiries in various healthcare settings.
- Convey emerging data and clinical experiences in an objective manner to facilitate scientific discussions.
- Assist in data generation activities, including studies and collaborations.
Medical Affairs Strategy and Execution:
- Play a proactive role in crafting the US Medical Plan and offering input on local strategies.
- Manage relevant budgets to ensure the execution of Medical Plan initiatives.
- Collaborate across functions to implement a Key Account Management approach.
- Serve as a scientific resource to support advisory boards, speaker development, and clinical trials.

Required Qualifications:
- Proven ability to research, analyze, and communicate complex scientific information clearly.

- Negotiation and interpersonal relationship skills along with comfort in digital platforms.
- Fluency in spoken English.
- Willingness to travel over 60% of workdays with a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Background:
- Familiarity with the healthcare landscape and connections with external experts.
- Proven capacity to establish trust with opinion leaders.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements affecting field-based personnel.
- Background in oncology is highly valued.
- Previous experience as a Medical Science Liaison with a record of achievement is strongly preferred.
Education and Licenses Required:
- Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Oncology Medicine.
- Current license (RN, NP, CNP, PA, or equivalent) with at least 5 years’ experience in oncology medicine.
- At least 2 years’ experience as a MSL or in a comparable role.
- Expertise in solid tumors/targeted therapies is preferred.
- This field position requires a willingness to travel 60-70% of the time, and candidates should reside within 60 miles of a major airport.
Physical Demands:
- Regular travel to various meeting locations.
- Frequent use of computers and other office equipment.
Work Environment:
- Interaction with external contacts in their office settings with minimal exposure to extreme conditions.
- Responsibilities may necessitate working outside of traditional hours to meet business needs.
- Appropriate business attire required during public engagements.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. prioritizes equitable compensation practices, offering competitive total compensation packages. The anticipated base pay range for this role is between $154,400 and $231,600. Individual compensation will be tailored to each candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience, while also considering internal equity. Additional details regarding compensation, including potential discretionary bonuses, will be shared with eligible candidates during the application process.
