Job Summary
Focal Point Academy, part of the CDW family, is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable cyber instructor to develop, enhance, and deliver engaging training courses in dynamic virtual environments. As a cyber instructor, you will create comprehensive course materials, design interactive training exercises, and assess student progress. Your deep expertise in technical subjects will enable you to provide an enriching learning experience, empowering students to hone their cyber skills and seize immediate career opportunities.
This role is structured as a 1099/contract position, offering part-time work on an as-needed basis.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate both in-person and virtual training sessions across various cybersecurity topics.
Evaluate participants’ skill levels and tailor course delivery to meet their individual learning needs.
Maintain effective classroom management, fostering a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
Stay ahead of technological advancements in cybersecurity, integrating fresh topics into your curriculum and training delivery.
Manage classroom technology and materials, ensuring a secure and functional setup for virtual or on-site training sessions worldwide.
Willing to travel to various training locations within and outside the Continental United States.
Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
What We Are Looking For
Required certifications: PCNSE and Palo Alto Networks Certified Security Platform Instructor.
Proven experience in delivering technical training in classroom or small group settings.
A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a related field, or alternatively, 5+ years of equivalent experience.
An experienced Information Security Professional with a robust background in cybersecurity.
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage learners effectively.
Proficiency with Windows operating systems and command line interfaces.
A strong grasp of successful teaching techniques tailored to adult learners.
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Industry Knowledge: Advanced expertise in cybersecurity training and consultancy.
Presentation Skills: Ability to deliver compelling presentations that educate and empower students on technical subjects.
Classroom Management: Skills in selecting teaching strategies, managing time effectively, and creating opportunities for learner success.
Learner Evaluation: Capable of monitoring progress, administering assessments, and determining achievement of learning objectives.
Understanding Adult Learning Principles: Ability to engage learners, identify their needs, assist in setting personal goals, and create practical learning opportunities.
Collaboration: Proven ability to work cohesively with diverse teams and stakeholders, from entry-level employees to executives.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical aptitude.
Problem-Solving: Experience in diagnosing problems and implementing effective, proactive solutions.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on meeting deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
Operational Excellence: A commitment to delivering high-quality work with precision.
Multi-tasking Ability: Efficiently manage multiple tasks, projects, and deliverables in a timely manner.
Compensation: $1150-$1350 per day (1099), based on experience and skillset.
Compensation may vary with geographic differentials.
