Job Description
Embark on an exciting long-term remote opportunity with a renowned government agency! Our client is on the lookout for skilled contract attorneys who are barred and in good standing in any state, possessing a minimum of 1+ years of litigation experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and trial of complex cases that set significant precedents and involve intricate legal and factual issues, having profound legal, policy, or financial implications.
- Evaluate the merits of presenting witnesses and assess the admissibility of evidence, contributing to strategic legal decisions.
- Negotiate and manage settlements for specialized education claims to ensure fair outcomes.
- Draft and present challenging cases and appeals in administrative hearings.
- Review, revise, and provide approval for agreements drafted by fellow attorneys.
- Assess the strength of impartial hearing cases and scrutinize the validity of plaintiffs’ demands.
- Guide relevant departments on their responsibilities to students and parents as mandated by impartial hearing orders.
- Evaluate internal settlement recommendations for strategic alignment.
- Collect evidence and assist in in-depth issue research.
- Represent at pre-hearing conferences and critically review administrative judgments.
- Conduct thorough research on state and federal case law and its relevance for settlement discussions.
- Collaborate with public advocacy organizations, parents, and private legal counsel to reach mutually beneficial resolutions.
- Review, edit, and endorse settlement stipulations to ensure compliance and fairness.
- Negotiate attorney’s fee claims to secure appropriate compensation.
- Compile preliminary reports, statistical analyses, and recommendations regarding case matters.
- Oversee, review, and authorize requests for pendency to maintain progress on cases.
Required Qualifications
- Active bar membership in any state with good standing.
- Experience in litigation and the negotiation of settlements.
- Proficient in legal research with a focus on efficiency.
Compensation Structure
For attorneys with 1 to 7 years of experience (barred and in good standing):
Remote Rate: $39.00/hour
For attorneys with 7 or more years of experience (barred and in good standing):
Remote Rate: $41.00/hour
