Join the County of Los Angeles Department of Mental Health at Antelope Valley Kidz Connection in Palmdale, CA. This temporary role (up to one year) offers a 30-hour/week schedule, TuesThurs (8a6:30p) with a mix of in-person and telepsychiatry coverage. Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, crisis intervention, and collaborative care for children and adolescents in the child welfare system.Assignment Details:Locum Tenens Mental Health PsychiatristCounty of Los Angeles Department of Mental HealthProgram: Antelope Valley Kidz Connection (AVKC)Location: Palmdale, CA (Open to Telemedicine Coverage)Temporary position up to one yearSchedule: 30 hours per weekHours: TuesdayThursday, 8:00am6:30pm50% of time in person (telepsychiatry also accepted)About the Program:Antelope Valley Kidz Connection (AVKC) provides comprehensive mental health services to infants, children, youth, families, and caregivers in or at risk of out-of-home placements referred by DCFS. Services include assessments, consultations, outpatient and field-based treatment, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, and ongoing psychiatric care.Responsibilities:Conduct psychiatric evaluations, prescribe/monitor/renew medications, and ensure continuity of careProvide psychiatric services to children and adolescents in the child welfare system, including field visits when neededParticipate in multi-disciplinary treatment teams and collaborate on client care issuesProvide consultation to DCFS/DHS staff and attend Child & Family Team meetingsScreen for health concerns and refer to physical health providers as appropriateDeliver crisis intervention and supportive counseling as necessaryPreferred Qualifications:Proficiency with computer systemsStrong verbal and written communication skillsEffective time management and organizational abilitiesAbility to work independently with strong attention to detailCommitment to community-based care and collaboration with diverse populations
