Aker Systems specializes in delivering secure, cloud-hosted solutions across both public and private sectors. As we experience rapid growth, we are seeking a Principal Data Architect to spearhead the development of cutting-edge cloud solutions that adhere to the highest standards of data security and privacy, empowering our clients to function securely and efficiently in an ever-evolving digital framework.

In this pivotal role, you will shape data strategy and oversee the seamless execution of complex, high-profile projects for our clients. Your responsibilities will include leading the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and resilient data architectures on AWS and various cloud platforms, while also mentoring and guiding a team of talented data professionals.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, to grasp business needs, offer strategic counsel, and ensure that data solutions align with their objectives.
    • Direct the design, development, and deployment of data architectures tailored to client requirements, maintaining focus on security, performance, and scalability.
    • Leverage your extensive expertise with AWS and other cloud service providers to build and implement secure, cloud-native solutions for both batch and real-time data processing.
    • Provide technical leadership and direction to cross-functional teams, ensuring adherence to best practices in data architecture, security, and cloud computing.
    • Exhibit proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, data warehousing, distributed systems, and metadata systems.
    • Employ Apache Flink and other streaming technologies to create robust real-time data processing systems capable of managing large-scale, high-throughput data.
    • Guarantee all data solutions are compliant with industry standards and government regulations, upholding the highest levels of data security and integrity.
    • Monitor technical outputs against established designs, managing and reporting any design discrepancies.
    • Support the sales and pre-sales teams by offering expert insights on proposals, ensuring technical feasibility aligns with client requirements.
    • Act as the primary contact for data standards breaches, providing recommendations for resolution.
    • Stay abreast of the latest developments in cloud technologies, data architecture, and security practices, applying this knowledge to enhance our offerings continuously.

    Essential Experience and Competencies

    • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in data architecture, concentrating on secure, large-scale, and intricate projects.
    • Extensive knowledge of AWS services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and Redshift. Familiarity with other cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP) is advantageous.
    • Proven expertise in Apache Flink for real-time data processing.
    • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and managing teams, focused on talent development and fostering a cooperative work atmosphere.
    • Exceptional ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders, translating their needs into actionable technical strategies.
    • Desirable skills in Scala and Spark to support broader project initiatives.
    • Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform), including both service offerings and practical approaches to cloud operations, particularly in a DevOps context.
    • Experience operating in sensitive data settings, ideally with exposure to cybersecurity specialists.
    • Understanding and application of recognized data modeling patterns and standards.
