    RESPONSIBILITIES

    As a member of the Communications team, and reporting to Director of Media and External Affairs, this position is responsible for helping to increase brand awareness using effective communications and media relations tactics for the Common Application. This individual is on the frontlines of working with national, trade, and local press contacts as well as industry thought leaders and influencers. They also support the Director of Media and External Affairs with planning and project management.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This role requires:

    • Candidates must live in the United States.
    • At least 3-5 years of successful, progressive experience in public relations, corporate communications, or marketing communications roles.
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher from four-year college or university; and; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Proven track record of crisis management; ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both local and national business and industry media outlets.
    • Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in speaking on the record.
    • Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level.
    • Knowledge of key issues in higher education.
    • A keen eye for detail, quality, and accuracy, with the understanding that any statements, presentations, and materials that are public are representative of a high-visibility, well-respected, national organization.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
    • Comfortable and successful with cross-organizational collaboration to ensure the best results for a public relations program.
    • Ability to understand and disseminate complex data narratives.

    The ideal candidate will possess:

    • Experience developing and managing a speakers bureau.
    • Experience in Higher Education.
    • Experience working for non-profits, educational institutions, or education technology.
    • Government affairs and/or public policy experience.
    • A passion for higher education is a plus.

    PAY RANGE

    Target hiring salary range $75,000-$78,000
