The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate and lead independent research projects in areas such as AI evaluation methodologies, alignment strategies, and synthetic data generation
• Craft and implement groundbreaking evaluation frameworks for large language models (LLMs) and intelligent agent systems that emphasize human data
• Enhance the academic dialogue in AI through scholarly publications and contributions to open-source initiatives
• Stay ahead of the curve in AI research, driving innovative strategies to address significant challenges within the discipline

Technical Implementation

• Design and execute robust experiments aimed at analyzing AI models and systems using rigorous methodologies
• Create scalable frameworks for systematic evaluation of model behaviors and capabilities
• Develop tools and frameworks that turn research findings into tangible applications
• Establish infrastructure to facilitate large-scale research experiments as needed
• Leverage your expertise in model fine-tuning, optimization techniques, distillation, and other ML engineering practices to fulfill research objectives

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with machine learning engineers, data scientists, and product teams to translate research insights into actionable applications
• Guide and mentor team members on advanced AI topics and emerging research trends
• Clearly communicate intricate technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders

Your Background

• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with a strong focus on AI/ML
• Proven research expertise demonstrated through publications, open-source contributions, or impactful projects
• Solid engineering foundation with practical experience deploying AI systems in production environments
• Comprehensive knowledge of LLM evaluation methodologies, alignment strategies, and model optimization techniques
• Proficiency in model fine-tuning, adapters, quantization, and distillation frameworks
• Self-driven with the ability to identify and pursue research avenues independently
• Strong grasp of contemporary challenges in AI safety, reliability, and alignment
• Excellent communication skills, capable of elucidating complex research concepts
• Enthusiasm for staying updated on the fast-evolving AI research landscape
