In this pivotal role, you will be an integral part of the legal team, supporting business leaders at UnitedHealthcare. Your expertise will be crucial in managing the legal facets of requests for proposals (RFPs), engaging in bid protest litigation, and addressing legal issues pertaining to our health plans.

Key Responsibilities:
- RFP Legal Support: Assist our Medicaid business in responding to state Medicaid contract RFPs. Collaborate with proposal teams, legal experts, and business partners to dissect RFPs, pinpoint legal concerns, and deliver comprehensive legal guidance for proposals.
- Bid Protest Litigation: Play a key role in managing bid protests following contract awards, engaging with outside counsel to advocate for the company in both proactive and defensive cases. Your duties will include gathering pertinent facts, reviewing legal documents, and offering insights on various legal issues tied to bid protests, working closely with business colleagues throughout.
- Health Plan Support: Provide essential legal guidance for health plan operations. Review and draft contracts and legal agreements while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Project Coordination and Management: Lead and coordinate projects within the legal team and across departments. You will oversee communications, manage project timelines, and ensure that goals are met efficiently.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research on relevant issues and prepare detailed summaries for the legal team, staying abreast of changes in laws, regulations, and industry trends.
- Team Collaboration: Join a dynamic team of legal professionals, manage multiple projects, mentor colleagues, and foster a supportive work culture.

Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Licensed to practice law in the United States
- 4+ years of legal experience, with a focus on litigation or bid protests
- Strong understanding of business issues with an ability to devise appropriate legal strategies
- Demonstrated success in collaborating within large, complex organizations
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Superior written and verbal communication abilities
- Proactive ownership of projects and responsibilities
- A track record of achieving results
- Skill in persuading others and driving bottom-line success
- Experience thriving in a fast-paced, results-driven atmosphere
- Adept at prioritizing tasks under tight deadlines
- Timely legal support for diverse business partners in multiple time zones, with availability for Pacific Time zone responsibilities
- Strong relationship-building skills with professionals at all levels
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with regulatory agencies and knowledge of state insurance regulations
- Relevant expertise in health law, commercial insurance, Medicaid Managed Care, or government bidding
- Strategic judgment and the ability to advise senior leadership on legal matters
- Familiarity with the health insurance and managed care landscape

The salary range for this position is between $106,800 and $194,200 annually, contingent on full-time employment. Compensation is based on factors including local labor markets, educational background, work experience, and certifications. UnitedHealth Group adheres to all applicable minimum wage laws.
