    Job Description

    Join our dynamic Technology Platforms team at the Mozilla Foundation as a pivotal Business Intelligence Analyst. In this role, you will bridge the gap between various stakeholders within the Foundation and the technology teams, playing an instrumental role in shaping our data strategy. Your contributions will cultivate a thriving data literacy culture and empower teams to harness data for operational enhancements and strategic decision-making. You will champion the idea of data as a vital organizational asset by promoting robust data governance, interoperability, accessibility, and trust, all while reflecting Mozilla’s core values and lean data principles.

    Core Responsibilities:

    Data Analytics & Insight Generation (50%)

    • Utilize AWS data tools, including Athena, Redshift, and S3, to construct high-quality, privacy-aware datasets and visual representations.
    • Develop and uphold SQL queries along with data transformation processes to facilitate effective reporting and analysis workflows.
    • Conduct statistical analyses to uncover underlying data patterns and anomalies while effectively communicating your insights.
    • Address ad-hoc data analysis requests from business users promptly and thoroughly.

    Collaboration & Empowerment (30%)

    • Work in concert with Mozilla Foundation teams to create interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI, providing clarity on outcomes, aiding decision-making, and transparently demonstrating impact.
    • Assist teams in enhancing their data fluency and enable them to independently craft and interpret dashboards.

    Data Governance & Stewardship (20%)

    • Uphold Mozilla’s lean data principles by ensuring responsible collection, usage, and sharing of data.
    • Document data sources, definitions, and logic to foster improved organizational transparency and build trust in our data.
    • Identify and address opportunities for enhancing data quality, structure, and accessibility throughout the Foundation.

    Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, or a similar role, utilizing data to guide decision-making.
    • Proficient in Power BI for crafting insightful and accessible reports and dashboards.
    • Hands-on experience with AWS data tools (Redshift, Athena, S3) and advanced SQL capabilities for data querying and transformation.
    • Ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear, respectful, and inclusive manner to non-technical audiences.
    • Strong commitment to ethical data practices, aligning with Mozilla’s values of privacy, openness, and equitable technology.
    • Excellent attention to detail, solid documentation skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
    • Comfortable in a collaborative environment that is mission-driven, working with diverse teams and adapting to shifting priorities while supporting the use of self-service BI tools.

    The Mozilla Foundation is committed to offering fair and competitive compensation for our team members. We utilize a market-based approach to determine salaries, which do not rely on prior salary histories.

    Starting salary ranges for this position based on common locations are as follows:

    • Germany: €49,031.40 – €55,116.61 (target salary: €50,579.76)
    • UK: £40,629.60 – £45,672.08 (target salary: £41,912.64)
    • Canada: $84,645.00 – $95,150.16 (target salary: $87,318.00)
    • US: $62,700.00 – $70,481.60 (target salary: $64,680.00)

    Additional salary ranges for higher market regions:

    • London: £50,787.00 – £57,090.10 (target salary: £52,390.80)
    • New York: $78,375.00 – $88,102.00 (target salary: $80,850.00)
