Job Description: Description
Engage with communities and amplify voices across the nation!
As a Field Interviewer, you will take an essential role in gathering insights that influence public policy and improve services nationwide in the UK. Your tasks will involve visiting individuals in their homes and utilizing a tablet to facilitate conversations that reveal their everyday experiences—covering their routines, viewpoints, and the challenges they encounter.
This is not a traditional office position; you’ll be out in the community, actively engaging with residents in your locality. Although the households will have been informed about the research, they may not necessarily anticipate your visit or might be hesitant to participate. Expect to face closed doors, refusals, and some unanswered calls. It can be challenging at times, but if you have the resilience to stay upbeat and maintain your enthusiasm for the next interaction, this opportunity may be perfect for you.
The real reward comes when someone agrees to participate. When they share their insights, you’ll know that you’re contributing to initiatives that could enhance public services and community support.
We seek candidates who possess resilience, confidence, and outstanding interpersonal skills. If you’re adept at handling rejection, fueled by meaningful discussions, and thrive in an independent work environment, we would love to hear from you!
About Us
We are the leading independent social research organization in Britain, dedicated to shaping policies that benefit millions—ranging from transport and education to healthcare and housing.
Our work is respected by government entities, charities, and educational institutions, informed by the authentic experiences of individuals like you. That’s where you step in.
With a nationwide network of over 700 interviewers and professionals, we delve into communities to ask pivotal questions that help the UK understand its societal fabric better.
Our Recruitment Process
Our recruitment strategy harmonizes human insight with advanced technology, ensuring every application is diligently reviewed.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Application
- One-Way Video Interview (via Willo)
- Final Interview (including role play)
- Offer
- Hired
If you require any reasonable adjustments for your application process, please reach out to us at emailprotected.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We are in search of an individual who is curious, confident, and driven by the ambition to effect real change. This role is not without its challenges—you will encounter refusals, unanswered doors, and some demanding discussions. Therefore, resilience is as crucial as your people skills. You need to quickly recover from setbacks, stay optimistic, and persist with the same energetic drive. If you find fulfillment in meaningful dialogues, love working autonomously, and are eager to contribute to research that shapes vital public policies and services, we want to connect with you.
To be considered for this exciting position, candidates must possess:
- A valid UK driving licence with access to a car.
- Class 1 Business insurance.
- Authorization to work in the UK.
- A willingness to undergo a DBS check.
- A stable broadband internet connection at home.
- A laptop or tablet equipped with a camera (for training purposes).
- Basic technological proficiency.
- The ability to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Flexibility to work on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
- Exceptional verbal and written English skills.
If you have experience working with customers or engaging with the public—be it in retail, hospitality, administrative roles, driving, freelancing, or sales—this position could be an ideal match for you. While specific experience isn’t necessary, we seek friendly, dependable individuals who enjoy assisting others. This role is perfect if you’re looking for freelance-style flexibility, part-time hours, or a position that accommodates other responsibilities. If you’re comfortable initiating conversations and seeking a role that values your interpersonal skills, we’d love to hear from you.
Benefits & Pay
This role offers freelance flexibility with hours based on your availability and performance-driven compensation. Typically, you can expect between £18 and £20 for each interview conducted, alongside extra admin fees and holiday pay (12.1%).
We also provide:
- Travel time (for most projects) compensated at £4.68/hour.
- Mileage reimbursement at 36p per mile (up to 10,000 miles).
- A £250 bonus following your two-day training period, with two additional £250 bonuses after completing two and four months of active work.
Our interviewers typically earn around £15.12 per hour (including holiday pay), with many increasing their earnings as they gain experience and confidence.
