Your workplace will be a modern manufacturing facility located in Ulverston, Cumbria, at the edge of the stunning Lake District National Park, or you can choose to work remote with only one week per month required on-site. In this engaging role, you will join a collaborative design team that excels in acoustics, imaging, mechanical and electronic design, embedded software, and application development. As a Firmware Engineer, you will take on crucial responsibilities, including developing solutions in VHDL or Verilog for a multi-channel analogue and digital signal sampling system that operates in real-time. Your contributions will encompass the complete development cycle, from crafting test benches and simulations to synthesis, timing closure, and utilizing debugging tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive new product inception and definition by contributing to five new developments/products.
- Design and develop firmware (using VHDL or Verilog) for advanced real-time multi-beam sonar equipment.
- Conduct advanced test benching and debugging of HDL designs.
- Ensure successful timing closure.
- Create DSP solutions leveraging Xilinx FPGAs.
Qualifications Needed:
- A degree or relevant qualification in electronics or a related field, though candidates with diverse educational backgrounds will also be considered.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a commercial setting, showcasing your achievements in HDL design and VHDL or Verilog development.
- Familiarity with Xilinx devices (such as Spartan, Artix, Kintex, Virtex, Ultrascale, Zynq, or Ultrascale+) and their development platforms (Vivado, Vitis).
- Proficiency in utilizing lab-based test and measurement equipment.
- Background in software and/or hardware development and embedded systems.
