  • Salary Range: £37,500 to £46,215 (dependent on location)
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm
  • Location: Flexible Homeworking, based in Cambridge

The Position

In the role of Functional Assessor, your primary responsibility will be evaluating how individuals’ disabilities or health conditions affect their ability to work. Leveraging your clinical knowledge, you will engage with clients, gather comprehensive medical histories, and conduct thorough physical examinations. The insights you provide will culminate in creating detailed reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to determine benefit eligibility.

This position will involve interactions with clients both in-person and through telephone or video consultations. Regardless of the medium, you will approach each individual with empathy and professionalism, asking the right questions while adhering to best practices.

You’ll have the time and space necessary to make accurate assessments, ensuring your full attention is dedicated to each client. While you will work independently, you’ll also join a supportive multi-disciplinary team, making collaboration a key part of your experience.

Your Qualifications

  • Registered as a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, or Paramedic with at least 12 months of recent, broad-based post-registration experience
  • Familiarity with functional assessment and clinical decision-making is a bonus
  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) documented on your CV
  • Current registration with the HCPC
  • Solid grasp of clinical governance and the importance of adhering to agreed customer service targets
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the adaptability to navigate a dynamic working environment
  • Proficient in IT and experienced in utilizing various software
  • Self-motivated, with a focus on ongoing professional development
  • Integrity and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality
  • Driven to provide outstanding customer service, demonstrating understanding, respect, and sensitivity during assessments
  • Capable of working independently to achieve deadlines and maintain quality standards
  • A reliable team player, ready to support a multi-disciplinary approach
  • Eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship (visa sponsorship is not offered).
