As a member of our team, you will excel in the role of a Hospital Collections Representative—an experienced professional who consistently surpasses performance benchmarks. In this role, you will assist colleagues in overcoming challenges, provide on-the-job education, and collaborate with the Supervisor of Hospital Follow-Up and IT team to troubleshoot issues and offer valuable feedback for system enhancements.
This is a full-time opportunity, operating Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to accommodate various shift schedules between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM PST. Occasionally, overtime may be needed depending on business demands.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough daily reviews of unpaid patient accounts, determining the appropriate responsible party for balances across government, managed care, or commercial sources.
- Reach out to identified payer sources to address payment release issues.
- Direct your efforts to managing complex claims, high-dollar accounts, and aged accounts requiring advanced follow-up procedures.
- Transmit necessary documentation to third-party payers to resolve payment discrepancies.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of all payer interactions within designated software applications.
- Oversee payment accuracy and timeliness, contacting payers as needed and reporting persistent issues to your supervisor.
- Guarantee secondary claims are appropriately crossed over to insurance.
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines for the collection of outstanding accounts.
- Navigate the appeals process for denied claims efficiently.
- Recommend accounts for write-off with proper justification and documentation.
- Consistently achieve and exceed productivity and quality standards in the collections process.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- At least 2 years of hospital follow-up or collections experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with EPIC Resolute Hospital Billing.
- Proven experience engaging with insurance payers and resolving outstanding claims.
- Expertise in collecting high-dollar claims.
- Knowledge of government and managed care contracts, as well as the appeals process.
- Basic medical terminology understanding.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for correspondence, data management, and calendaring.
- Ability to adapt to flexible shifts during regular business hours and be open to occasional overtime as necessary.
Remote Work Requirements:

The hourly pay range for this position is between $16.88 and $33.22 for full-time employment, dependent on various factors such as local labor markets, educational background, work experience, and certifications. In addition to competitive pay, UnitedHealth Group provides an extensive benefits package, including incentive programs, stock purchase options, and 401k contributions—all subject to eligibility criteria.
