About the Microsoft 365 (M365) Administrator Position:
As a Microsoft 365 (M365) Administrator, you will cultivate and maintain expertise within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and Entra ID. You will oversee daily management of essential applications, ensuring their security, performance, and availability, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Security & Compliance Center, Intune, and various third-party applications. Your responsibilities will encompass provisioning, integrating (SAML – OAuth), operating, supporting, and maintaining these applications, alongside performing backups and delivering training or conducting research to guarantee ongoing availability and seamless operations. This role also presents an opportunity to provide level 1 and 2 technical support to end-users and external clients.
This position offers remote work flexibility; however, quarterly travel to Avalon’s corporate office in Tampa, Florida, is a requirement.
Key Responsibilities of the Microsoft 365 (M365) Administrator:
- Security Management: Stay informed about application updates, vulnerabilities, and patches; research and implement hardening techniques; conduct regular security monitoring for potential risks or breaches; investigate incidents if detected.
- Operations & Support: Monitor applications daily, ensuring integrity and availability; review application logs, and oversee scheduled job completions such as backups. Create, modify, and delete user accounts as approved; provide Tier III application support as required, troubleshoot and resolve issues, repair software failures, and conduct tier 1 training for users. Assist both remote and onsite staff with laptop troubleshooting, printer setups, software installations, onboarding and offboarding procedures, hardware troubleshooting, and password resets.
- Maintenance: Regularly apply software upgrades and enhance administrative tools; configure and add new services as necessary; document operational and configuration procedures; produce periodic performance reports to support capacity planning; conduct ongoing performance tuning and coordinate hardware upgrades.
- Collaborate with various teams, balancing competing objectives to achieve collective goals and fulfill requirements.
Minimum Qualifications for the Microsoft 365 (M365) Administrator:
- At least 12 months of professional experience as a technical support technician.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Any relevant IT or Technical Certifications are advantageous, especially MS CERTS: MS-102, MD-102, MS-900, SC-900.
- Required Experience: 1-3 years in Microsoft 365 administration, alongside experience with M365, SharePoint, Exchange, Teams, Intune-Mobile Device Management, Entra ID, and PowerShell scripting (higher-level administration). Experience with remote laptop management via Intune and Intune Autopilot is essential.
- Education or Equivalent Experience: A bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, relevant work experience or IT and Security Certifications will also be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Required Proficiency: Proficiency in a Windows and MS Office environment.
- General IT Experience: 3-5 years in IT application administration and support, with a strong preference for experience in additional applications. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential. SQL data query skills (basic level) are preferred.
Preferred Qualifications for the Microsoft 365 (M365) Administrator:
- Education or Equivalent Experience: A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- Relevant work experience may substitute for educational qualifications.
- IT and Security Certifications may substitute for relevant work experience.
- Preferred experience managing MS Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Exchange.
- 1-3 years of general IT support experience.
- Basic skills in PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with HIPPA and HITRUST regulations is an asset.
- Diverse technical skills across various domains are preferred.
