Your Responsibilities
As a Functional Assessor, you will play a crucial role in evaluating how individuals’ disabilities or medical conditions impact their daily work life. Utilizing your clinical knowledge, you will compassionately engage with clients to collect their medical histories, followed by conducting thorough physical examinations. You will then generate clear and precise reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to determine each individual’s eligibility for benefits.
This role allows you to connect with clients both in-person and through telephone or video consultations. Regardless of the format, your approach will be grounded in empathy and professionalism, ensuring that you ask thoughtful questions while adhering to best practice standards.
You will have ample time to conduct thorough assessments while giving each individual your full attention. Though you will often work independently, you’ll be a valuable member of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team where support is always available.

About You
- Registered as a General, Mental Health, or Learning Disability Nurse with at least 12 months of recent, diverse post-registration experience.
- Experience in functional assessments and clinical decision-making is considered a plus.
- Evidence of continuous professional development on your CV.
- NMC registration is essential.
- A solid grasp of clinical governance and a commitment to meeting customer service standards and targets.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to navigate a dynamic environment.
- Proficient IT skills and familiarity with various software applications.
- A self-aware professional, focused on ongoing personal and career development.
- Integrity and the ability to maintain client confidentiality are critical.
- Driven to provide high-quality customer service, showcasing empathy, respect, and sensitivity throughout the assessment process.
- Capable of working independently to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- A reliable and efficient team player, eager to support the multi-disciplinary team.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK without a visa (sponsorship is not available).
