Your Responsibilities
As a Functional Assessor, you will play a vital role in evaluating how individuals’ disabilities or health conditions impact their ability to work. Utilizing your clinical knowledge, you’ll conduct thorough interviews to gather detailed medical histories and perform physical assessments. You’ll then create clear and precise reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), which aids in their decisions regarding individuals’ eligibility for benefits.
This position entails engaging with clients through face-to-face meetings as well as via telephone and video consultations. Regardless of the mode of communication, your approach will be compassionate and thoughtful, ensuring that you ask insightful questions while adhering to best practice standards.
You’ll have the time necessary to deliver accurate assessments, devoting your full attention to each individual. Although you’ll work independently, you will be integrated into a supportive multi-disciplinary team, with ample resources available to assist you.

Who You Are
- Registered General, Mental Health, or Learning Disability Nurse with a minimum of 12 months of recent, comprehensive post-registration experience.
- Experience in functional assessment and clinical decision-making is a plus.
- Continuous Professional Development reflected on your CV.
- Registered with the NMC.
- Solid understanding of clinical governance and commitment to service levels and targets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with adaptability to fast-paced changes.
- Proficient in IT with experience in various software applications.
- Self-aware and dedicated to ongoing professional growth.
- Integrity and the capacity to maintain confidentiality are essential.
- Driven to deliver high-quality customer service with empathy, respect, and sensitivity.
- Able to work independently to meet deadlines while also contributing as a dependable team member.
