GovCIO is excited to invite applications for the role of Operations Research Analyst / Data Scientist. In this pivotal position, you will play a key role in supporting database development, data configuration, analytics, and reporting initiatives for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). As part of a dynamic reporting and analytics team, you will configure and analyze data to generate real-time metrics and insights that drive the ICE mission forward—all from the comfort of your own home, as this is a fully remote opportunity.

Your Responsibilities

• Deliver robust data management solutions to facilitate complex analytics across diverse systems and software, including Oracle, Databricks, AWS, and ServiceNow.

• Integrate data with visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, and Qlik Dashboards to create a seamless user experience.

• Engage with clients to understand their challenges and needs; conduct gap analyses and propose actionable solutions that can be implemented within our data systems.

• Perform trade-off analyses of various technical solutions to identify optimal tools and methodologies for addressing intricate data queries.

• Produce project deliverables and artifacts to ensure compliance with team standards and maintain high-quality output.

• Utilize source data to evaluate the success of projects and the efficiency of business processes.

• Collaborate with team members to assess shifts in requirements and propose timely, effective solutions.

• Promote end-user engagement with data and metrics through the development of dashboards and the dissemination of key performance indicators.

• Apply advanced analytical skills to distill complex information from multiple sources into a coherent narrative for mission leadership.

Your Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s Degree.

• 5+ years of professional experience (2 years may be waived if you hold a master’s degree).

• At least 2 years of experience performing data exploration, data cleaning, visualization, and analytics.

• Proficiency with data visualization tools, including Qlik or Power BI, for over 2 years.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Familiarity with distributed data and computing tools, such as Databricks.

• Experience in data modeling, as well as mapping data flows and design.

• Outstanding analytical and communication capabilities.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Adaptability to quickly shift focus and manage multiple ongoing tasks.

• Creative thinking skills, particularly when addressing diverse scenarios.

Security Clearance

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain DHS clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Compensation Overview

The anticipated pay range for this role is between USD $90,000.00 and USD $100,000.00 annually. Base pay may vary based on factors such as market location, individual qualifications, skills, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package may also include additional elements, which will be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that this position is “at-will,” and GovCIO reserves the right to adjust compensation and other payments based on performance and market considerations.
