The salary range for this position is between $163,000.00 and $294,000.00. Compensation is determined based on various factors relevant to the role, including labor market conditions, education, experience, and certifications. As the Director of Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), you will spearhead a team of tactical threat analysts focused on advancing technical assessments of critical cyber threats. In this pivotal role, you will identify and prioritize information security threats while guiding business partners on security and privacy risks, developing solutions to effectively mitigate potential issues. You will work closely with defensive control teams, threat researchers, and incident responders to monitor and counteract emerging threats and vulnerabilities. This position is key for fostering integration between business initiatives and information security throughout the organization, acting as a vital link among Information Security, Risk, and overarching business and technology programs. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Staying abreast of the evolving cyber threat landscape and associated attack methodologies.

  • Counseling technology and information security teams, including the CISO and other senior management, on industry trends, cyber threats, and legislative developments affecting the company’s security framework and informing information security policies.

  • Aligning security initiatives with organizational goals and engaging in various enterprise projects, ensuring support for security and privacy workstreams across the company. You will effectively communicate decisions and priorities to relevant staff and resources.

  • Representing the CTI unit in strategic planning, development, implementation, and troubleshooting within Technology Services.

  • Proactively sharing insights on technological risks and opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Acting as a trusted advisor to leaders in information security, risk, and compliance, demonstrating a strategic understanding of associate business missions and goals while supporting capability evolution amidst a dynamic risk landscape.

  • Collaborating with senior stakeholders at the VP and SVP levels on information security and compliance risks impacting the business structure.

  • Participating in the annual planning process for technology and business initiatives.

  • Leading and nurturing team members, focusing on career development and performance management.

  • Keeping abreast of technological developments and leveraging this knowledge to enhance the organization’s competitive positioning.

  • Cultivating relationships and partnerships with internal teams (Target’s Security, business portfolios, and governance) and external entities (government agencies, vendors) to provide transparency on enterprise risks and discuss strategic matters.

About You:

  • A 4-year degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • More than 7 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity.

  • In-depth knowledge of the cyber threat landscape and the ability to clearly communicate these threats to executive leadership.

  • Proven technical expertise and comprehensive understanding of the tactics, techniques, and procedures associated with cyber threats, including organized crime and state-sponsored activities.

  • Experience in gathering, analyzing, and acting upon Threat Intelligence.

  • Capable of leveraging Cyber Threat Intelligence through enrichment, correlation, and attribution processes.

  • Extensive familiarity with offensive security strategies (DDoS, Malware, Phishing attacks, etc.).

  • Technical proficiency with Threat Intelligence tools such as Passive DNS, malware research platforms, and URL scanning tools.

  • Comprehensive experience with industry frameworks and standards such as MITRE ATT&CK.

  • Familiarity with threat intelligence vendors and platforms.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding and expanding a multifaceted cybersecurity organization.

  • A passion for coaching and mentoring, fostering improvement and development in team members.

  • Strong negotiation and persuasive skills to lead discussions across various organizational levels.

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation abilities.

  • A solid understanding of business, technology/IT, and cybersecurity practices.

This role may offer the flexibility of remote or hybrid work arrangements, known internally at Target as “Flex for Your Day.” A remote setup means working full-time from home or an alternate location, without a designated desk at a Target office, with potential travel to headquarters up to 4 times a year. The hybrid option entails performing your core responsibilities either remotely or on-site, depending on the needs of your role and tasks. Note that work duties cannot be conducted outside the primary work location’s country unless specified by Target.
