    Job Description

At Optum, we are a forward-thinking global organization committed to enhancing health and wellness through innovative technology. Our team plays a crucial role in improving health outcomes by linking individuals with the care, pharmacy benefits, data, and resources they need to thrive. Join us in fostering a diverse and inclusive culture where talented colleagues, comprehensive benefits, and ample career development opportunities await you. Make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve and help us promote health equity on a global scale. Together, we embrace Caring. Connecting. Growing together.

This exciting opportunity is within the Optum Advisory and Implementations business unit, specifically in the Government Programs Actuarial (GPA) consulting practice. Our GPA practice specializes in delivering top-tier actuarial consulting services to Medicare and Medicaid payers, competing against other established actuarial consulting firms in the industry. We primarily collaborate with non-United Health Group payer entities, tailoring our actuarial solutions to meet diverse client needs. As this role is consultative in nature, your responsibilities will adapt based on client requirements.

We are in search of a seasoned actuarial leader who can harness their expansive industry knowledge to steer teams in executing a wide array of strategic, actuarial, and consulting initiatives within Optum’s Payer Advisory Practice. This role will concentrate on public programs catering to Medicare, Medicaid, and Dual-Eligible populations. You will build, nurture, and sustain relationships with payer clients, guiding projects involving various actuarial products and services, as well as other relevant healthcare offerings from Optum.

This senior-level position demands skills in sales, client management, and people leadership, making it vital for the expansion and quality delivery of existing client relationships, while also forging new partnerships. Your guidance and mentorship will empower other actuarial professionals, driving growth within the GPA practice. This role also necessitates collaboration with multiple departments across Optum and United Healthcare, ensuring that our customers receive the most suitable services.

Enjoy the freedom of remote work from anywhere in the U.S. as you engage with challenging projects that make a real difference.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience presenting at various actuarial and healthcare organization conferences, such as the Society of Actuaries, AHIP, and others
