Job Description
VetsEZ is on the lookout for a dynamic and driven full-time remote Technical Writer who will collaborate intimately with our development teams to enhance, implement, and manage knowledge management programs. The perfect candidate will blend a robust technical foundation with a track record of producing top-notch technical documentation.
Please note, candidates must reside within the continental United States.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and oversee writing tasks, create and refine intricate technical documents encompassing presentations, manuals, reports, and specifications related to information technology.
- Generate and disseminate communications related to essential functions such as SDLC quarterly releases and changes in processes or policies.
- Revise documentation to ensure it meets standards of style, clarity, consistency, and customer specifications.
- Investigate complex technical concepts to refine existing documentation and author new manuals, policies, or procedures.
- Conduct interviews with technical personnel to collect and analyze data for documentation tasks.
- Collaborate with scrum masters, developers, and management teams to identify and sustain technical documentation across all software products.
- Strategically document, articulate, and educate on processes to embed them within our organizational culture, technology, and people.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on draft documents; participate in documentation review sessions.
- Exhibit self-motivation and organize communication with various departmental levels.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, computer science, or a comparable field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in technical writing.
- Proficient in interfacing with technical teams and end-users to grasp functional requirements for developing processes and procedures.
- Familiarity with best documentation practices and proficiency in core Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in Change Management and performance testing processes.
- Thorough understanding of all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), particularly in crafting User Requirements Documents and translating them into Functional Requirements and Design Documents.
- Proven experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation crucial for developer coding, final code distribution, training guides, and training for code deployment.
- Previous background in software development.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to produce polished, professional documentation.
- Capable of reviewing prior documentation to identify what needs updating and proactively engage with responsible parties for new information.
Additional Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the VA Health Portfolio and Informatics Product Line is preferred.
- Knowledge of HL7 and FHIR basics is advantageous.
- Previous collaboration experience with software developers is a bonus.
- Experience in creating various documentation, including but not limited to architecture artifacts, DODAAF diagrams, Business Process Models, System Design Documents, and Production Operations Manuals.
- Experience in technical writing in the Healthcare sector is a plus.
- Eligibility for government clearance is required; active VA access is favorable.
