Join us to work on the cutting-edge Firefox for Android, an open-source browser boasting over 100 million downloads on the Google Play Store. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in defining technical architecture, mentoring fellow engineers, and steering our development efforts in alignment with Mozilla’s principles of openness, innovation, and privacy.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design, troubleshoot, and implement medium to large-scale Android solutions that advocate for a healthier and more inclusive internet experience.
• Lead engineering choices and feature enhancements, ensuring a strong focus on delivering user-centric value.
• Collaborate closely with a diverse, geographically distributed team dedicated to enhancing the Firefox mobile applications and our suite of open-source Android components.
• Partner with stakeholders to define, clarify, and solidify project scope and requirements, steering initiatives effectively.
• Communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Establish and maintain quality standards through diligent code reviews, proactive bug fixing, testing, and best coding practices.
• Collaborate with specialist Gecko teams to enhance browser functionality on the Android platform.
• Address technical challenges that span the full spectrum from the Java API to JavaScript, and down into the C++ browser engine.
• Engage with Mozilla’s dynamic open-source community to gather feedback and proposals that bolster our Android offerings and embody Mozilla’s manifesto.

Your Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in building sophisticated applications for diverse user groups, utilizing Java, Kotlin, and/or C++.
• Skilled in problem-solving, risk assessment, driving change, and fostering collaborative decision-making.
• A deep passion for crafting exceptional products, demonstrating ownership from design through to debugging.
• Proficient in modern programming practices, including code reviews, unit testing, and automation.
• Experience with Rust programming is a plus.
• A proven ability to lead fellow developers and collaborate in fast-paced environments to deliver high-quality, reusable code on schedule.
• Comfortable asking questions and proposing innovative ideas that could drive positive change.
• A strong desire to work alongside and learn from a talented team.
