    In the role of Counsel, Transactions, you’ll collaborate with diverse functions including clinical, medical affairs, marketing, finance, business development, operations, and sales teams to negotiate, draft, and review a wide array of agreements. This position is integrated within the Cepheid Legal Department and offers a completely remote work setup.

    This position presents an exciting opportunity for you to:

    • Analyze, interpret, and provide guidance on a variety of legal matters and associated risks, particularly in transactions with healthcare providers, research institutions, and promotional initiatives.
    • Deliver balanced and innovative legal counsel to business stakeholders, aiding them in achieving their strategic goals in a compliant and ethical manner.
    • Create and implement contract templates, educational programs, policies, and procedures regarding transaction processes and agreements.
    • Collaborate with leadership to escalate issues as needed, aiming to mitigate risks and suggest viable solutions.
    • Remain up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, and industry standards related to healthcare, medical devices, anti-bribery, and competition, sharing your expertise with the Cepheid Legal and Compliance teams.

    The ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school with active bar membership in good standing.
    • At least 5 years of applicable experience in commercial transactions within a law firm or in-house legal environment.
    • A Bachelor’s degree supplemented by 8+ years of relevant professional experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience.

    Preferred qualifications include:

    • Experience with commercial transactions in the medical diagnostics or healthcare sectors.
    • Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreement types.
    • Familiarity with U.S. healthcare compliance laws, including fraud and abuse regulations like the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and the False Claims Act.

    The salary for this role ranges from $115,000 to $170,000, reflecting our good faith estimate based on the current market conditions. Please note that compensation may vary and is subject to change.
