    Your Role:

    As a Vascular Surgery Coder, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate surgical coding, particularly for Trauma Surgery cases. Your expertise should extend to E/M coding for associated providers, as well. You will meticulously review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract necessary data, applying the relevant ICD-10 Diagnosis codes alongside CPT/HCPCS codes specific to the services rendered. This function is crucial for coding accuracy, billing processes, internal and external reporting, research needs, and maintaining regulatory compliance. Under the guidance of the coding manager, you will ensure precise coding of conditions and procedures in line with the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, CMS/MAC regulations, CPT standards set by the AMA, and any other applicable coding guidelines. Your responsibilities may include analyzing coding denials from payers and advising on actionable steps to resolve claims as per payer guidelines. This is a full-time, fully remote position.

    Your Responsibilities:

    • Deliver high-quality surgical coding for General and Trauma surgery cases as assigned.

    • Stay informed about ICD-10 and CPT coding principles, governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and third-party documentation and billing requirements.

    • Ensure all services documented in patients’ charts are accurately coded with the appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes, seeking proper documentation when needed, in line with facility standards.

    • Aim for and maintain 95% accuracy in coding, while achieving a high productivity level; accuracy will be assessed during monthly reviews.

    • Work daily on the review queue to address all charts placed for review, communicating any necessary corrections to the facility promptly.

    • Correct and communicate any charts needing re-bill status daily as per re-bill policy in facility guidelines.

    • Immediately report any coder downtime to administrative staff to meet turnaround times.

    • Collaborate with IQC staff to uphold quality standards across all facilities.

    • Provide prompt and accurate responses to coding or billing inquiries from physicians or hospitals within eight hours.

    • Ensure every chart in your queue is coded or pending within 24 hours.

    • Notify administrative staff if unable to meet the 24-hour turnaround standard.

    • Check the Guidehouse email system at least every two hours during coding sessions.

    • Maintain your professional credentials throughout your employment at Guidehouse.

    • Familiarize yourself with the Guidehouse coding website and utilize it as a key resource for accurate coding and abstraction across facilities.

    • Ensure HIPAA compliance at your workstation (refer to HIPAA workstation policy).

    • Adhere to the coding division’s policy and procedure manual.

    • Collaborate efficiently with fellow coding and billing team members to maximize efficiency and reimbursement for properly documented services.

    • Communicate any issues or discrepancies related to coding principles to your supervisor immediately.

    • Maintain professionalism in all email communications (refer to email policy).

    Qualifications You Will Need:

    • High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification.

    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Vascular Surgery Coding, including both inpatient and outpatient coding for physician claims.

    • CPC certification from AAPC is required.

    • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is essential.

    • Ability to maintain credentials throughout your tenure with Guidehouse.

    • Capacity to work independently, manage multiple tasks effectively, and interact with various levels of personnel and clients.

    • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

    • A high degree of accuracy in coding is required.

    • A robust understanding of Federal & State Coding regulations and guidelines is essential.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • CCVT and/or CIRCC credential from AAPC.

    • Experience with multiple EMR and/or Practice Management systems.
