Summary of the Role
The GEH Nuclear Inspection team plays a vital role in safeguarding nuclear power plants globally, especially during customer refueling outages. Our skilled team applies a combination of manual and robotic inspection methods tailored to meet our clients’ dose reduction and scheduling objectives. Specifically, the In Service Inspection (ISI) group focuses on crucial inspections outside the reactor vessel, as well as piping and components vital for safe operation.
As a pivotal part of our operations, the NDE Level III professional provides essential technical leadership, aiding the Project Manager and ISI Coordinator in overseeing NDE activities on nuclear power plant inspection projects. This position demands effective communication with clients and the management of a team of up to 30 contractors and colleagues.
The NDE Level III is entrusted with advancing and refining inspection processes, techniques, and tooling to align with business requirements. You will primarily fulfill roles as a Project Level III, NDE Data Analyst, and/or automated operator. Key responsibilities include planning inspection scopes, ensuring adherence to procedures, analyzing both automated and manual UT data, and preparing comprehensive UT data reports.
In this role, you will also be tasked with crafting inspection techniques, writing procedures, and arranging inspection schedules in advance of nuclear power plant outages. Furthermore, during the off-season, you will evaluate and document performance challenges during inspections, working to enhance tools and procedures in response to identified issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning the GEH project schedule, ensuring timely delivery, while providing technical leadership and coordinating work with teams comprising both GEH personnel and contract workers.
Develop strong relationships and effectively engage with senior management from customers and suppliers regarding commercial, technical, and compliance matters as part of a cohesive service team.
Contribute to business initiatives, including the development of inspection tools and techniques, training, proposal processes, and staffing.
Execute tasks and assignments while upholding GEH’s commitment to integrity, safety, and quality standards.
Enhance specialized knowledge in your field, serving as a best practice resource, staying informed on the latest technical advancements, and contributing to strategy and policy formation while overseeing responsibilities.
Support less experienced colleagues as a go-to resource, and potentially lead small-scale projects with moderate risks, fostering consensus and refining persuasion skills to influence discussions within your expertise.
Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in automated or manual NDE, either as a Data Analyst or Level III.
UT Level III Certification or the requisite experience for immediate qualification as a Level III.
Possesses manual or automated PDQS certifications from EPRI.
Eligibility Criteria:
Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
Preferred work location is GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; however, qualified remote candidates will be considered.
This position will require access to U.S. export-controlled information; final offers will depend on securing authorization to access such information from the U.S. Government, if applicable.
Preferred Attributes:
A robust 10 years of experience within the Nuclear Industry.
Familiarity with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code sections III, V, VIII, and XI.
PDI qualifications concerning RPV and/or Piping procedures.
Experience with manual or automated/encoded inspections in BWR plants.
Proven leadership in guiding field teams at customer sites.
The compensation for this role ranges from $104,200 to $130,000, influenced by a variety of factors including candidates’ experience, education, and skill set. Additional incentives like performance bonuses and variable compensation may apply, with the role slated to remain open until April 10, 2025.
