Business Analyst Manager
Remote
JOB SUMMARY:
The CATT Business Analyst Manager works with Product Owner, Process Owners, Process Business Analysts, and Developers to design, develop, deploy and perform ongoing maintenance activities for our custom-developed software that is used by internal partners and staff as well as external clients to drive long-term scalability and sustainability of the business for a competitive advantage. To execute their area of responsibility, this role collaborates with staff, product teams, IT, other functional areas within the broader company firm, and field offices to ensure we achieve the vision cohesively and effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong data analytics capabilities, a continuous improvement mindset, and a deep passion for the digital transformational journey.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Understands Scaled Agile framework and drives digital transformation by integrating teams and adhering to firm standards.
- Assists in managing product roadmap, including overall prioritization of strategic and tactical activities (including interproject dependencies).
- Collaborates with the Product Owner to prioritize technical and functional requirements and maintenance of the product roadmap.
- Identifies what the business wants and works with the team to determine what’s feasible to deliver (adherence to firm policies and standards).
- Understands pieces of the business capability to understand potential process redesign opportunities.
- Defines, documents, and communicates requirements in work items for product development team (epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria).
- Organizes, models, and specifies requirements with the appropriate level of detail given complexity, risk, and audience; represents requirements using alternative views (ex. models/diagrams) where appropriate.
- Participates and champions all agile/scrum ceremonies (or adherence to Kanban principles)
- Monitors sprint burndown charts to know when to ramp up/down the team to drive quality and velocity over time.
- Functions as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) on key technology integrations (for example PowerBi, TaxCaddy, iManage, CCH eFile, OIT (ONESOURCE INCOME TAX), OTP (ONESOURCE TAX PROVISION), etc.). As a SME, the technical BA participates in the designing of the integrated solution, performs UAT, assists in deployment of the solution and resolves escalated user issues.
- Ensures the business impact of technical enablers is understood and factored into prioritized work backlogs as defined by the technology teams.
- Plans as needed with no guidance; resolves conflicts timely and beneficially to all concerned. Escalate to the appropriate leader, as needed.
- Adheres to firm policies, delivery frameworks, standards, and support/operational hand-offs and continuous feedback loop (to identify usability improvements).
- Serves as a positive role-model and liaison between all levels.
- Contributes to the CATT BA specialty by identifying best practices, networking, and communication across product teams.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree (preference given to Business or Technology or Accounting major).
- Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (e.g., IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional) or equivalent experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a software delivery team and developing solutions (required).
- Results driven; high integrity; ability to build relationships; communications skills; understands complex decisions and proactively seeks input from Senior Developers (required).
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies (required).
- Self-disciplined to work in a virtual, agile, globally sourced team (required).
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (preferred).
- Prior public accounting experience with mid to large size firm(s) or other professional services experience (preferred).
