Position Overview
In this pivotal role, reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be instrumental in propelling our growth strategy within the life sciences consulting sector. Your focus will be on acquiring new clients and expanding our existing accounts, forging long-term partnerships with major pharmaceutical and biotech enterprises.
As a vital member of our Commercial team, you will collaborate closely with subject matter experts and operational teams to co-create high-impact, scientifically-grounded solutions across Regulatory, CMC, Quality, and Clinical domains. A strong technical background, ideally in Chemistry or a related life science field, will enable you to effectively engage with scientific and operational stakeholders. Additionally, your business acumen and adaptability will be crucial for closing deals and driving revenue growth.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust track record in meeting and exceeding sales targets, with extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biotech industries and a willingness to travel up to 75%.
Work Location
This position offers a hybrid/remote work environment, preferably for candidates located in the Eastern Time Zone or the Greater Boston area.
Key Responsibilities
Client Acquisition:
- Identify, pursue, and secure new clients within the pharmaceutical, biotech, and life sciences service sectors.
- Craft effective prospecting strategies, lead qualification processes, and customized proposals that align with client needs and our technical proficiencies.
- Manage the entire sales lifecycle from opportunity identification to proposal, negotiation, and contract execution.
Account Growth:
- Act as the primary relationship manager for key national accounts, ensuring client satisfaction, retention, and service line expansion.

Client Engagement & Strategy:
- Partner with technical experts and delivery leaders to draft solution-centered proposals that meld scientific insight with client business goals.
- Coordinate offshore delivery and maintain global alignment on execution quality, timelines, and client communication.
- Conduct quarterly business reviews, monitor client satisfaction, and maintain long-term strategic account plans.
Sales Execution & Forecasting:
- Consistently achieve or surpass individual revenue goals, sales milestones, and business development KPIs.
- Accurately track pipeline activities and provide forecasts using CRM systems.
- Analyze client and market data to guide commercial strategies, pricing models, and client prioritization.
Market Insights & Collaboration:
- Represent client perspectives to internal teams to shape marketing strategies, service development, and operational initiatives.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory shifts to maintain competitive positioning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Finance, Sales Operations, and Delivery teams to ensure commercial success.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology); advanced degrees (MS, PhD, or MBA) are advantageous.
Experience:
- 10+ years in business development, account management, or client services within the life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotech sectors.
- Demonstrated success in acquiring new clients and expanding existing accounts, particularly within a consulting or outsourced services context.
- Familiarity with global pharma/biotech account management, including engagement with procurement, technical, and scientific personnel.
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical development lifecycle and related technical services.
- Experience collaborating with offshore teams and managing global service delivery.

Essential Functions
Physical Demands:
The role involves frequent use of a computer, reaching with hands and arms, and active engagement in verbal communication. While walking and sitting are common, standing, stooping, and kneeling may be required occasionally. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are essential.
Work Environment:
The work setting is typical of an office environment, characterized by moderate noise levels and indoor temperate conditions designed to minimize eye strain. Air travel is integral to this position.
