    As a key member of our Legal Department, the Litigation Paralegal will play an instrumental role in navigating various contested matters, ensuring the timely implementation of appropriate legal strategies. This position demands strict adherence to company policies as well as all applicable US state and federal laws across our operational regions.

    The compensation range for this role is set between $75,000.00 and $90,000.00.

    Your Responsibilities Include:

    • Review pleadings crafted by external legal counsel, including summonses, complaints, affidavits, motions, orders, and judgments to ensure accuracy and compliance.

    • Assist in the preparation and review of discovery responses and objections, ensuring timely collection of executed verifications and analyzing proposed redactions. Collaborate with knowledgeable parties to develop thorough responses to interrogatories and other discovery requests.

    • Draft and review responses to various written correspondence regarding contested matters while ensuring accurate processing in our case management system.

    • Open and manage case files, conducting comprehensive analyses of complaints, investigating claims, and coordinating the retention of outside counsel as necessary, while providing them with essential loan servicing records.

    • Facilitate coordination with outside counsel for mediations, depositions, and other important legal events requiring personnel presence.

    • Maintain an organized calendar of legal events and key deadlines for the department.

    • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis, utilizing statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, and treatises to prepare legal documents and memoranda.

    • Perform factual research by gathering relevant information from diverse resources, including legal databases, newspapers, public records, and trade associations.

    • Assist with case settlement processes by organizing the necessary data for settlements, preparing requests for approval, and managing the review and circulation of settlement agreements.

    • Lead pre-claim title investigations by reviewing title records, organizing documentation, and compiling a chronology of facts for claims submissions.

    • Handle administrative duties such as photocopying and scanning documents to support case work.

    • Act as a liaison between outside counsel, internal departments, and in-house attorneys, ensuring effective communication and status updates.

    • Manage the intake and preparation of responses to subpoenas, maintaining adherence to legal standards.

    • Provide business units with regular updates on pending litigation, contested matters, and title issue resolutions.

    • Resolve routine legal issues under the guidance of an attorney, fostering collaborative solutions.

    • Prepare and sustain quarterly reports on pre-litigation and litigation statuses to support departmental objectives.

    Qualifications You’ll Need:

    • A solid understanding of mortgage servicing and litigation processes.

    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.

    • Exceptional writing and proofreading capabilities to ensure clarity and professionalism.

    • A keen eye for detail coupled with the ability to solve complex issues collaboratively.

    • Effective decision-making skills that consider the broader impacts on the organization.

    • Ability to navigate complex issues and integrate diverse perspectives during negotiations.

    • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively over a longer time horizon.

    • Basic mathematical skills for accurate financial documentation and reporting.

    • Excellent verbal communication skills for clear and efficient idea exchange.

    • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to track and log time accurately.

    • Education requirements include an Associate’s degree from an accredited institution with paralegal certification or a Bachelor’s degree.

    • A minimum of two years of experience as a paralegal is necessary.

    • Two years of experience in mortgage servicing is preferred.
